I’m having a lazy time watching a bit of Corrie whilst Dh is filleting a salmon - part is for teatime and part for the freezer. Dd and family should be setting off soon so we see them after 4ish…..depending on the traffic. I’m imagining the traffic could be horrendous. I’d expected them leaving early morning like they often do, but to be honest I’m pleased of a couple of hours chilling before madness strikes.January spends - £587.581

All going well here. Dd and family arrived yesterday Ds arrived today. Great fun has been had and children tucked up in bed waiting for Father Christmas. 9 year old is on the cusp of becoming an unbeliever 😂😂😂but I suspect she edged her bets and went to bed at 8pm just in case 😂😂
Heating is on in the motorhome ready for us to sleep tonight and the children have said they’ll knock on the door in the morning to tell us if Father Christmas has been or not. It was 8am before they came in to us yesterday so I’m hoping for the same tomorrow.
Dh thinks he’s managed to source an element and is pretty sure he can fit it himself so might not be too bad. I’ve actually taken the turkey apart to cook it. I always take the legs off and bone and stuff them then cook the crown. But this year I’ve taken the breasts off the bone so they’ll cook much more quickly so I’m not overly worried about being down to just the little oven. It’ll be what it is 👍
Merry Christmas everyone. Hope it is whatever you want it to be 🎄January spends - £587.581 -

And in the blink of an eye the family has gone. A 4 hour ride to their other grandads house for a Christmas dinner….then tomorrow for a trip to their nanna’s house for yet another Christmas Day. And another 5 hour ride home. They are such a long way from everybody 😱. I suspect they’ll try to have us at their own a house again next year…providing the building work they’re planning isn’t in mid flow. The children knocked on the motorhome door about 7ish on Christmas morning,
so not bad at all 👍 I’ve known it to be 5 am some years. Everyone loved their presents and they weren’t the slightest perturbed by 2 sewing and craft boxes, since my brother (or rather his wife 😂😂) had the same idea as me. Eldest promptly decided to use one for material and the other for sewing bits 👍The turkey worked out fantastically, cooking it portioned up….just like cooking a chicken - really moistWe’ve eaten half of it ( I love left over turkey so we bought a 14-18 portion one) The plan is to make Christmas dinner pie for tea with leftovers and any extra will be frozen. Then turkey and mushroom fricasse to use up a box of mushrooms that haven’t been used, portion some chopped turkey up and save some for sandwiches 😀 I’m not expecting any waste. There might even be enough for a couple of pots of curry.Stock was made from the bones and already frozen for soup.I haven’t spent a penny since Thursday and am just about to pay my cc off so that I don’t owe a penny to anybody as we head into the new year. I’m going to continue with the same system as last year. £100 a month for things I need to pay cash for…..hairdresser, subs at U3A, window cleaner etc. £10 of it straight into an envelope for Christmas presents for great nieces and nephews…..although I’ve only gifted the ones I see this year and I still feel mean 😏. Any extra from the £100 goes into a whatever I want to use it on fund. Some went on my trip to Bath earlier this year some on extras this Christmas 😀. The surplus will be ds January birthday present…..unheard of having his birthday cash left over. I’ve struggled robbing Peter to pay Paul and using credit in previous years.January spends - £587.581 -
