That was a long day Milann but sounded nice too!
Good for you meeting SIL at the mall - not least as you wouldn't catch me going anywhere near one of those places at this time of year! Not sure where the last couple of days have gone to.I cleaned my fridge and freezer yesterday before heading to see ds. We were incredibly lazy and had a Chinese….we don’t have a decent Chinese around here but his is very nice. It’s something we do a couple of times a year so is a nice treat when we have it. When washing the takeaway tubs out for future freezer use it made me realise how much more greasy than home made food it is though. So a couple of times a year is enough.
I went to a U3A Christmas do this morning….it was ok but I think I’ll stick to my usual groups in future instead of where all the groups get together…there was some entertainment but I think I’ll pass next time.
The plan was to make mince pies and decorate my Christmas cakes this afternoon. I’d barely walked through the door when my friend arrived….complete with marzipan and roll out icing which is ready rolled. She knew I was doing them this afternoon and saw me struggling with my arm last time she was here. ‘Saw these and thought of you’ she said. She’s a goodun. She wouldn’t take any money either. I’d told her about my hospital appointment dilemma not expecting her to do anything about it as I’ve half a plan in place. She has insisted she’ll change her workday to take me…just got to check with her boss next week but she doesn’t foresee any problem. If it’s ok I’ll treat us to dinner out as a Thankyou.Right sitting here isn’t getting mince pies made nor cakes iced….I’ve still not decided how to decorate them this year.January spends - £587.582 -

I made 60 mince pies and have marzipanned and iced 2 Christmas cakes. The ready rolled stuff was easy to put on the cake but horrendous to work with - the finish is awful. And packaging 😳 - so much plastic in it. I don’t think I’ll be a convert, but am grateful to have such a lovely friend who thought of me. I couldn’t get inspired so just made holly wreaths from icing for the cakes. It’s fairly simple but looks effective and only a little bit of piping involved. The icing holly leaves haven’t held their shape as well as when I use my usual icing….they’ve fallen flat 😡 Dh will take a cake and a box of mince pies to his boss tomorrow. I repurposed a nice strong, clean box for the cake….and panicked when I got my trusty old roll of see through wrapping out as there was about 9 inches left and I didn’t think I’d have enough to cover the box. I ended up cutting it in half and making a join - but it just about did the job.I bought the roll of cellophane when dd was at college and I used to spend an absolute fortune on fancy papers for her course from a great big p@perch@se…..which has long since gone. I found it in a 50p tub……dd moved to uni at 19 so it was before that and she is in her 40’s now. Seeing the end of the roll was a bit like saying bye to an old friend 😂😂
ive come downstairs for a cuppa as sleep has eluded me. After my active day my arm is throbbing, Dh is snoring for England - and that’s without having my hearing aids in….I dread to think how many decibels he’s producing.😳😳😳😳😳 I was getting in a tizzy and couldn’t get comfortable so the sensible thing seemed to walk away and try again in a while.
Dh came home from work and announced his boss has invited us out for a Christmas meal on Wednesday night. Last time we went out with them pre covid- I ended up sitting next to a boy (man) who’d just started working there and his sole topic of conversation was cricket, of which I know nothing and have no interest. I’ll be very careful where I sit this time 😂😂😂 They usually take us somewhere nice 😀 Next problem- not sure I can fit into any going out clothes 😳 I’m certainly not buying anything.January spends - £587.580 -

Looking good. I have to admit I don't like icing or marzipan so serve with cheese.
I adore cricket and I suspect this chap may be more obsessed that usual after the Pakistan series, choose your seat wisely.🤣1 -
The cakes look wonderful. I think you’re being a bit hard on yourself. Hope you enjoy your meal.LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013
