I actually went for a swim for the 1st time in weeks this morning. I didn’t do much swimming but had a lovely relax in the jacuzzi. I’d forgotten how relaxing it is. Didn’t do much other than chill today as my tummy wasn’t the best. At least I got to use my gym membership for the first time since we did the decorating 😃

I went to SW and not sure how but I lost 3lb. I very nearly didn’t go….just shows the porridge in the  morning might be paying off. I have to admit I’m not following the plan properly but tweaking it - I can’t be @ssed counting everything but have a pretty good knowledge of what’s what.
It was a beautiful day today so Dh has put the decorations outside and put  the summer chairs in the shed. We won’t be turning them on yet but it made sense to make the most of the nice weather. There has been years when he’s been out in all weathers. We went for a walk around a little pond not far away….my ankle has swelled again but it’s nowhere near as painful as it was 😃 From there we went to Spoons for an afternoon special fish and chips. We sent them back…..I’ve never seen anything like it. The fish was so thin you could snap it. It’s usually really good in there. The waitress said they’d had about 8 portions sent back during her shift. WHY did they send the food out. Anyway we had burgers instead - which were more expensive at no extra cost to us. I don’t know if they’ve change suppliers but it was absolutely awful fish 😡
Not sure what the weekend will bring…..it’s a let it unfold and see what happens kind of weekend.

Well done on the 3lbs loss, bet you’re glad you went now 😃 The weather has been beautiful here too. Sounds like Spoons have had a bad batch of fish, their food is usually pretty decent on the whole.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Not much to report. Went to ds yesterday and he cooked tea. We went for a walk around his local bit of canal…..I quite enjoyed it and managed much better than last time I did it. My ankle is still nicely bruised though.
Dh was impressed with my phone so bought one for himself. 😂😂can’t be outdone with me having a better phone than him 😂😂 he has been saying for a while he needed a new one 👍
I finally got around to writing a present list and I was right with my thinking that I only need to get for my dd, ds and son in law. I’m going into big town with ds on Tuesday so will see what he wants and we’re down at dds for a few days on Thursday so I can get some idea there…..if all else fails they’ll get some chocs to open and I’ll give them cash for a meal out 👍
We’re just heading into my local town as Dh wants a case for his phone which he’s been setting up all morning.
There’s some stewing steak in slow cooker for when we get home…..looking forward to the smell when we come back home 😃

  • I hope the bruising subsides on your ankle milann. ☹️
Re Xmas presents for your DD and OH - My sister, her OH and I decided last year we would have a limit on how much we would spend on presents for one another and in the New Year we would go out for a nice meal. We used to spend and buy quite a bit on one another over the years but to be honest we don't really need 'things' anymore at our stages of life and would rather have something jolly to look forward to.

I agree SSG I’ll happily buy something if I know what they want but I’d much rather give them the money for a meal out if there’s nothing they really want. Ive had so many presents in the past that have just been passed to the charity shop from my late in laws…..it actually got to be a bit of a joke and guessing game to see what they’d bought 😊 I’ve finally reached a decision about my great nephew and nieces. I’m going to give to the ones I see but will reserve cash here in case by some miracle I see the ones I don’t usually see….then I’ll give them the cash I’ve already squirrelled away. If I don’t see them or their parents I’ll hang onto the cash. I still feel very mean but for years I just post cash to people I never see. I sometimes get a thankyou but often I don’t 😕
I walked into my little town. Dh got his phone cover.  There was a bit of a Christmas market there but they’re doing a lot of work in the town centre so it was tiny but still expensive. We popped in Spoons for a cuppa and sit down before walking back home. I’m really enjoying walking again 😄 it had got so painful I was going through the motions and sitting down every chance I got but I wasn’t enjoying it- just waiting for the next opportunity to sit down. I was watching some doctor on tv the other day and he was stipulating the importance of being active in some way for 30 minutes a day - even if it’s in chunks….at whatever level of fitness you have - he reckoned if people were made to keep as active as possible in hospital, the stay wouldn’t be as long and he said it’s  because of staffing levels this isn’t happening, especially to older patients. I totally agree with him…..my observations of being in hospital over the last 15+ years backs this theory up ( 😂😂 for what my opinion is worth 😂😂) They regularly used to get the patients up and encouraged a walk around the ward. There were ladies who never got out of bed when I was last in there….even though the physios had requested it. So my mission is to get out of the bad habit of sitting all day ( too many chilled out days ☺️ are creeping in) and get back into some walking or swimming (or doing proper housework) every day. Watch this space 😂
It was lovely to walk into the smell of stewed steak which was rather delicious with carrots, stir fried cabbage and mash. 😋😋😋

It is far to easy, especially if you are reading something, to just sit there unmoving.  That is why I like a fitbit as it reminds you at 10 to the hour if you haven't done 250 steps that hour.  Whilst 250 isn't many I do find that once I'm up & moving I tend to just do something that needs doing.

Bad memory it is so easy especially when sitting comfortably under a blanket keeping warm, to just sit - in my case watching the box, which is a very bad habit I’ve got myself into. I really need to give myself a shake up. I’m fine at weekend when we do something together as a family but left to my own devices I’m sitting far too long. Having the fit bit bleep every hour is a great idea 👍
That said I’m having a bowl of porridge and raspberries and banana  then heading out for a swim. On my way home I’m going to get what I need to make my Christmas cakes so will bake them today. No idea how I’m going to  decorate them this year. I need to do a bit of research.

That's one of the things I like about my watch.
It prompts you to move every hour.
