We have sorted Dh bedroom and I’ve virtually finished the craft room…..just a couple of shelves left to sort. Then I just need to Hoover the floors and clean the windows, but I’m waiting until I’ve finished the craft room and will do the lot together. We also spent some time in the garden -we might not get many more sunny days- all the bulbs and pansies are now planted. I haven’t seen Dh as enthusiastic about the garden railway for ages. He uncovered things he’d forgotten he had stashed away in his room. The cats have now started leaving parcels in the back garden too 😡😡 I’ve put garlic bulbs down but it doesn’t seem to deter them…..they just find a different part.Dh made tea and I’m sitting enjoying Strictly.January spends - £587.580

I finished sorting the shelves in the craft room yesterday before heading over to see ds. He cooked a lovely lasagne and I brought leftovers home for tea tonight 👍
I was very pleased I didn’t have to cook tonight as I spent the rest of the day generally tidying everywhere. I made the beds for the gks and dd…..it’s a right palaver putting the z beds up as there is no room to walk around them. It’s a tiny box room which literally just fits 2 z beds in. The window cleaner came again and did inside downstairs too 😃 I did the upstairs windows. It’s actually looking quite clean and tidy. Dh made several trips to the tip over weekend - it’s been a long time since it’s looked so uncluttered. It would be lovely to have a house big enough to have proper spare beds for them.I’m loving my new bedroom, 1 set of curtains still need turning up. Having my curtains in front of the bay is fine 👍 I want to make the cover for the window seat. I crocheted a cushion cover yesterday whilst I was at ds but I don’t think I’ll have enough wool for a front and back so once I’ve made the seat cover I should have enough material to make a back, but all that can wait until dd has gone home again.
I nipped to M@rrisons £36 later….I did succumb to some Halloween goodies for the gks. Not a lot to show for the money though.
I need to buy a train ticket to go and meet dd in a town across the Pennines from me on Thursday. She couldn’t get tickets on the train that goes from London to the big town near me 😡 there used to be 3 an hour and now there’s only the one. For some reason there were no tickets on sale then non available. It’s a long enough journey as it is without having to mess about like this.😡
im totally shattered after my housework and can barely put my foot on the floor so I’m off to bed. Night night 😴January spends - £587.580 -
You really do need to get that foot sorted don't you - it's such a nuisance it's still giving you trouble. I hope you get somewhere with chasing up the appointment!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Busy but fun time being had here. Can’t believe I’ve spend days tidying and getting the house in order…..it looks like a whirlwind has blown through 😂😂😂Love it 👍
I travelled across the Pennines to meet dd and gks on Wednesday. We had a lovely time in the town at their winter garden and museum. Eldest gdd was fascinated with the story of steel making and artifices there youngest loved the play area. So a successful break in between train rides. Today has been spent doing crafts with a quick visit to the park in the sunshine 👍 We’d planned tea but we’re back too late to cook it so I was very thankful to pots of home made bolognaise in the freezer enough to feed 6 of us in an instance 👍😃
Tomorrow will be the salmon we were going to eat today 👍January spends - £587.581 -
Well the salmon didn’t happen on Friday. We visited my brother who hasn’t seen my dd or gks for about 4 years. We didn’t tell him they were with me so it was a lovely surprise for him. On our way home, we went to a park near him which had a river and good play equipment. So we spent a couple of hours there…Pooh sticks never looses its fun element...then there was a change of plan and we went to the supermarket and took food to my ds house - myself and dd cooked- he’d been working at home. He should have been coming to us after work but we were virtually passing his house. Gks we’re delighted to go there as he has some games from his childhood which they love to play with. Yesterday we drove back across the Pennines and visited a different museum and had dinner before they headed to the train back to London and the train from London to their town. After we’d left them at the station we visited the market in the town - the fruit and veg was much cheaper than near me. Pity I didn’t need any as everything I’d bought in for their visit is still in the fridge, as plans evolved 😏 - we’ve got a lot of eating up to do 😳. I was thrilled to find a stall selling sewing equipment so I’ve bought eldest gdd a sewing basket which I’ll fill with bits for her. She is just like her mum and forever trying to design and make things. So that’s another Christmas present partially bought 😃 My Asda saving card is full so I’ll get the £15 bonus for Christmas 😃 I’m quite happy with where I am re Christmas presents. I’ve sent eldest gdds birthday present back with them and given dd her belated present too. My birthday present pot has taken a hit this week.
The house needs another good tidy….but today isn’t the day. I’m just chilling today. We haven’t had a roast dinner for ages - so cooking dinner will be my lot 👍January spends - £587.580 -
As we were travelling over the Pennines yesterday morning….across a very winding meandering road - the weather was atrocious- heavy rain and we were travelling through cloud. You wouldn’t know we were in the middle of such beautiful scenery. As we got in the car to come home it was persisting down again…I don’t think myself or Dh were looking forward to the drive home. Anyway the rain stopped but it was still rather grim with cloud. We suddenly noticed a small section of blue sky as we turned a bend it opened into the most beautiful red sky. Everyone was stopping in the lay-by taking photos and just admiring it. 5 minutes later it had vanished. We were certainly in the right place at the right time 😃 The photo didn’t do it justiceJanuary spends - £587.583

Beautiful red sky 😍 What a lovely surprise for your brother seeing your DD and GKs. All sounding good on the Christmas front too 😃I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

I had a quick tidy up this morning. It wasn’t actually that bad once the toy and craft boxes had been taken upstairs. I hoovered and mopped then headed it in search of covid and flu vaccines. The first port of call was the drop in centre I had my last jab at. I walked straight in and had my covid jab but they weren’t doing flu. I asked if he knew anywhere doing them and he said Boots but a lady and just been in and told them they were shut for dinner. So I took myself for a cuppa and went about half 2. I walked straight in there too. So I’m all up to date and so far so good 👍 no I’ll effects yet.
I called into a friends for a quick cuppa on my way home. It’s the first time I’ve walked into town for ages and I needed a sit down part way home…this ankle is driving me to distraction 😡I made some chicken soup when I got home, that’ll do for a few dinner times. I roasted 3 chickens yesterday whilst the oven was on. We had some for dinner yesterday and tea tonight, but I’ve portioned the rest up ready to freeze. It’s so handy just being able to pull a cooked portion out. They were on offer at 3 for £10. I haven’t seen them at that price for a while. I’ll get at least 12 portions out of them….probably more 👍
Tomorrow I plan a lazy day. I’m having my hair cut at 9.30 - other than that I’ve got no plans. I’ve got no intention of fighting these vaccines…I plan to rest and let things take their course. I might have a play with the material I’ve bought but I’ll see how the day unfolds and make some lists for Christmas. I totted up my present pot and still have a very healthy amount in there….better than I expected...but I have 5 close birthdays between now and January 😏January spends - £587.581
