Had a lovely day yesterday. Ds picked us up and we drove 45 minutes away to an estuary that is a bird sanctuary. It is marshland and looks as if you can just walk over to Wales…..I’d love to see it on one of the rare occasions where it is covered in water. It’s basically one street along the bank of the marshes…….there was a massive fire a couple of months ago, but it must have been  slightly further along the coast as I didn’t see any evidence of it. Anyway, this one street houses 2 home made ice cream shops, a few pubs and a delicious chippy that always smells vinegary and makes you want chips. I resisted the pubs and chippy but did manage a cherry ice cream 😋 twas worth the journey there 😀😀😀😀
We drove a little further along the coast and had a walk around a little marine lake, then drove even further along and walked along the river on the opposite side to Liverpool. I love the views from there. We’d planned a meal using MrT vouchers…..the 2nd time I’ve tried to use these. 1st time the pub had run out of food and this time in a different pub was shutting early in readiness for a shut down and refit starting today 😏 We aren’t destined to use these vouchers. 3 rd time lucky.
Anyway we drove an hour home and ds bought a take away. So a NSD for me again 😁I’ve found the best thing for me are short walks, car ride ride and another walk. I suppose it’s all about pacing myself…..taken me a long time but I’m finally learning 👍😁
Right time to tidy up and pack the van 😀

That sounds like a lovely day - I have a feeling we’ve been to the bird reserve you mentioned - the location/description sounds familiar.

    EH….Parkgate on The Wirral.
I still haven’t started sorting the house and van. I got distracted by repotting my tomato plants and put my courgettes and peas outside in pots. I’m hoping there won’t be a frost whilst we’re away, but they were getting far too big for the little pots they were in and getting pot bound. Wish I had room for a proper greenhouse. I’ve kept the tomatoes inside as I think it’s too cold yet for them .
Somewhere along the line I have managed to mess my finger joint up. I must have veins near the surface of the joint. I didn’t feel knocking them…..maybe it was squashing compost with my hands 😏 but 2 of them are very swollen, bruised and sore. It’ll settle down in a short while and by tomorrow the bruise will have virtually gone. It happens quite regularly but I could have done without it today……so I’m having some cheese and crackers and a cuppa then I’ll get going with the house clean - it’s not that bad👍
I had a message from the window cleaners wife telling me he has had a heart attack. He is only in his 40s. His team are still doing the windows today so £7.50 for the windows…..but that’ll come from the random spends from the cash I take out each month and I’ll total it at the end of the month. Anyway I’ll message her back and give him my wishes for a speedy recovery….he has been coming here since he was 16 helping the older  window cleaner then he bought the round. Hopefully he will make a full recovery as he is a lovely guy.

That’s awful about your window cleaner - and at that age too. Makes you think doesn’t it. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

Just back after 4 lovely days away…..
A couple of nights at Berwick in Tweed. The campsight overlooked the sea and we could walk into Berwick where we found a lovely Italian restaurant which did a 3 course dinner time special for £6.99 😁 We ate in there twice and just had a snack in the evening. We took a rather choppy boat trip, did lots of sitting drinking coffee, people watching. In between this we explored around the town and drove to Lindisfarne one evening…..we didn’t think we were going to manage to get there with the way the tides were over the causeway, but we were pleased we did.
En route to Durham we visited Bamburgh Castle. This was followed by a day in Beamish which I hadn’t been to for about 30 years. Some bits were the same but there had been additions which were good to see. I’m very pleased they had vintage trams and buses taking you from one bit to another - it was our busiest day - we arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 5 😳. And we didn’t quite see everything. The tickets are valid for a year so we might well visit again as I wanted to see Alnwick Castle but we didn’t have time. We had a ride into Durham and saw the cathedral. We headed home this morning and took the scenic route….we dove through some beautiful countryside and there was no bank holiday traffic as on the motorway 😁 We stopped off at Settle and then saw The Ribblesdale Viaduct - what a splendid sight that was. We only went on the motorway on the last half hour of the trip. So a great trip. I’m so pleased Mr M loves driving as there’s no chance of me driving all that way.
I spent £30…and some of my cash which I’ll tally up tomorrow and do my April figures. But overall I’m happy with this months spends 😁

Ah you’ve listed some of my favourite places! Did you treat yourself to some Lindisfarne mead or the lovely fruit wines? I really love Northumberland. I haven’t been to settle since a trip on the settle to Carlisle railway a good 30 years ago 😮 it sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Everything was shut on Lindisfarne WW…..it was the way the tides were…..the causeway wasn’t passable until early evening.
