It was lovely SSG. I am making the most of every day……😁 trying to send time with family doing nice things as MSE as possible 😁 My past illness and the unexpected events in a very close friends life has made me realise you’ve got to make the most of life NOW and do what you can when you can 😁- nobody knows what tomorrow might bring. Wow that is very profound for a Tuesday afternoon 😂😂😂😂

We heard recently that my sister's ex-husband has bowel cancer that is now terminal and he has six months. They parted quite amicably years ago and both remarried, but we were all very upset to hear the sad news. He is only 57 and was always a larger than life character. His poor wife had already lost her previous husband to cancer and now this. 😔. Sorry for the downbeat post but you are so right about making the most of life whilst you can.

    Blimey that is sobering.
My ex BIL died last year from cancer, not even 60.
Also a larger than life character.

This morning I’ve been ironing and watching Downton Abbey. I’ve seen all the series before but wanted something lighthearted so have started them again. We are visiting dds in-laws later in the summer as we have previously but we are taking Millie this time and spending longer there, so I’d like to visit where Downton was filmed as it’s quite close by.
I’d half planned a gardening session this morning but it’s persisted down and it’s really cold so I’m staying cosy and not moving out.
I’ve had a message from a cousin in USA - we’d lost touch until a few years ago. Anyway when we were younger, the families used to send audio tapes to each other with the old fashioned reel to reel tapes. Said cousin has repaired an old tape player and sent me a photo of a tape we sent to them - he’s going to try it and send what he finds.I’ve no idea what or who is on the tape. I got quite emotional at the thought of listening to the voices of my family. My imagination has been running overtime thinking who I might hear 😁👍it’s a strange feeling 😏

I love Downton too - I'm hoping to see the film shortly. Highclere where it is filmed is beautiful - well worth a day out.

How wonderful about the tapes!  You must be so excited!

  • My bil did a similar thing with tapes made when we were small and put them onto a digital format that he emailed through.  There was a clip of my father telling a very young me off for some naughtiness

I’m excited about the tape as I’ve no idea who or what will be on it. It’s 40 years since I’ve heard my mums voice and around 30 five or take a year or so either side since I’ve heard my dad, brother and sister. So it’s a bit emotional - you watch after all this I bet the tape is blank 😏
I started off so well this morning with plans of healthy eating and gardening….thennnnn…
I got a message from a friend asking me out for lunch. It would have been rude not to, she had a days holiday. I’d only just eaten an omelette for breakfast but I did manage lunch 😁 She treated me too so that was a bonus. So the healthy eating went by the wayside and I’ve not even opened the door to the garden yet….but I will get out and at least start splitting some plants 👍
