Mince pies to take with us are made, as if the orange and almond cake and decorated with the dried oranges. Not sure if it’s my thing or not but should taste ok.
I’m just going to tidy the kitchen and pack the bags for tomorrow.I probably won’t get on here until we get home so have a lovely Christmas everyone whatever you might be doing.January spends - £587.584 -

We’ve just arrived home after a wonderful few days with dd, the gks and son in laws family. We all mucked in together with the provision and cooking of food, although dd all 4 kids did the majority……letting us grandparents amuse the gks. Worked out well. We had some lovely walks along the seafront and played games. Dd had some work done on her house last year and it gave all 9 of us a comfortable space to sleep. I was very impressed with dh……he is noted for being a tad anti-social when there are too many people for too long a period …..but he did very well 😁 I think the only downside was the dog hair from 2 golden retrievers that came with son in laws family - 2 beautifully natured dogs……but the hair they dropped 😳
We hit a bit of traffic on the way home but the sat nav took us cross country to avoid a lot of it……took just short of 6 hours including a short loo break.
Nothing other than catch up tv planned and a bit of washing planned for the next couple of days 👍👍
A close friend was broken into on Christmas Eve though…..she has 2 disabled children, I suppose 1 is a young adult now but ability wise around 3 or 4 years of age. They ransacked the place……unwrapped Christmas presents and took some……did things that should only be done in the toilet around the place 🤬🤬 but it looks as if they were disturbed. People have rallied around and helped in some amazing ways……there are more goodies than baddies out there still 😉 What possesses somebody to do something like that…..and on Christmas Eve 🤬🤬🤬January spends - £587.584 -
Glad you had a lovely time. That’s awful about your friend being burgled. Total low lives who would do such a disgusting thing. No doubt high on drugs 🤬🤬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

A miserable grey day here……we’re hoping to get out for a walk or ride somewhere but it’s not looking hopeful. Just damp, drizzle and rain ☔️☔️☔️I want to pay my cc, including everything I have on it to date - getting in advance of myself and not just the monthly statement.I’m going to put cash in a card a month for my 12 great nephew and nieces every month - I used to always do this, but haven’t the last few years. Getting in advance fir next Christmas 👍
Before the new year I’m going to look at my direct debits. I can’t decide whether or not to continue with the HSA…..I’ve always come out quite well, but this year, neither of us has had new glasses and I’ve only had a quick check up at the dentist so I’ve not come out tops at all. I want to look at finances in general. I have to admit I’ve taken the foot off the pedal and just enjoyed getting what I wanted for Christmas, using the cash I had from the retirement lump sum.Next year I really need to manage much more efficiently 👍January spends - £587.582 -
I’ve just started a savings stamp card for next Xmas with my local supermarket. Did this last year but was annoyed I didn’t fill the card with stamps just got to £25 then stopped. Xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.001
