Milann's life keeps getting in the way.......

I’ve spent the day cleaning and tidying upstairs. All washing is up to date and put away. Tomorrow I want to do a bit I’d shopping. Then Thursday make a few more mince pies and a orange and almond cake to take when we go to dds on Christmas Eve? I’d been asked to go for a Christmas drink with some people from work tomorrow but I’m going to give it a miss. I’d rather not chance it.
I had a surprise delivery from one of my nephews today with a daft photo card of him. It made my day - I do suspect it’s more to do with his partner than him though……but she is lovely too. 😁😁January spends - £587.581 -
Your delivery looked lovely. Looks like it's all systems go for Christmas for you thank goodness .Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

I'm feeling like socialising now ahead of Christmas is very not worth the risk too Milann - there is a do we'd usually try to go to on Christmas eve but it's a hard no from me this year - it's fun, but just not worth chancing it.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I’ve just had a mega shuffle of the freezer and I can fit a tiny turkey in (I hope) so I will relax knowing we can have a Christmas dinner, should the worse happen and we don’t get to dds. It doesn’t matter if ds things are still in there - turkey should fit 😁😁 I feel a lot happier now 👍😂😂 Not that we’d have starved…… I need to get dh out of the habit of just buying and not eating…..he is worse than me 😏

I did my bit for family peace and harmony last night. I went with dh to visit his sister. She is going worse……NOTHING is right for her. She expects those around her to drop everything when she requests something and certain family members have started saying ‘no’ ( not before time either). She spent most of the evening ranting about it and this family member ( who I think is a saint) Anyway I asked her if she wants to come around to ring and someone will pick her up once we’re back. Don’t know what else I can do….when we set a date for her to come she didn’t show and didn’t even phone. She always complains about people……especially those who are different to her…..anyway one day in a shop last week, she got herself in a tizzy and keyed the wrong PIN number in 3 times so her card was declined. A lady who was behind her and of a different nationality (who she would have slated previously) told the cashier to put the items on her bill….£40 worth. Hopefully it might give her a different perspective. Then later that day she went to her local petrol station for cigarettes and had a dizzy turn……the shop keeper ( again she’d slated ‘his kind’) offered to get an ambulance which she refused so he did no more than lock the shop and take her home and made sure she was ok…..I’m hoping these 2 acts of kindness rub off on her 🤞. I know she has had a rough time, and is depressed…..I really don’t know what I can do to help her. I’m not getting involved in her bitterness. Dh gets stressed when he’s been with her too long. I ended up in hospital with palpitations after a day with her a few years back, which is when I took a step away, but I’d never stop dh visiting…..I don’t encourage it either 😏
Right I’m heading to the shops to hopefully find a little turkey. I am going to Sainsbury’s for starters as I have £45 of Nectar vouchers 👍👍January spends - £587.583 -
There is 100% a difference between not stopping someone visiting and not doing anything to encourage it either - I'd be doing exactly the same Milann! We're pretty fortunate - we do have one toxic relative (oddly another SIL) but can mostly avoid spending any time with them now - and due to the way she's behaved over the years, the rest of the family mostly do, now! I think a lot of us have had MH issues over the years but for the most part we don't turn that into treating others badly, do we! I also think your approach of suggesting that she calls if she wants to visit is ideal - she needs to then put herself out to make the effort, and if she chooses not to, you'll always be able to remind her that she was invited to should she later choose to suggest nobody asked her to visit. Definitely better than getting food etc ready for a visit which she may simply not turn up to like before!
Hope the Turkey hunting went well!

I think we all have a toxic relative somewhere along the line.

Sometimes it is a pleasure to have very few relatives. I only have 2. One, my son is an absolute blessing, still living at home, after all he is only 40! The other my sister with whom I do have occasional issues. I haven't seen her since March 2020. We can only see one another for about 2 hours without argueing. Our parents used a divide and rule system so it is no wonder really. We've butted heads since she was 3 & I was 7.

Thankfully I have lots of other lovely relatives…..we don’t live in each other’s pockets and often keep in touch via FB and meet at wedding and funerals but if the chips were down we’d be there for each other 👍👍
The only turkey in Sainsbury’s would have fed our whole Ave so I didn’t bother. I looked at a fresh one but at £40 for the cheapest that stayed there too 😳😳I used my Nectar points toward my shop and ended up paying £33 👍 for the rest if my shopping.
I passed Lidl on my way home and got one for £12 - that’ll do nicely. It’s a back up just in case any one of us tests positive before the big day. I’ve got the makings of a Christmas dinner with Christmas pud or sticky toffee pud, and an assortment of cheeses and cold meat and salad - so if the worse come to the worse Christmas Day and Boxing Day are taken care of 👍👍 then the shops will be open again. Everything I got has a good date so should be fine until we get back.Dh has had his fridge freezer repaired so he can have his shelf of food back, then I’ll do a big cook up after Christmas. It’s ages since I’ve done that. It’ll be good to have the space to do it 👍
