Next Friday and Saturday SSG 😁 Not sure if there will be any Christmas markets  or anything just seems to make more sense to stay near to a town at this time of year. If ds wants to he can meet us for dinner and a walk as it’s only about an hour and a half from home.

  • The York Christmas market starts next Thursday so you'll arrive right on time!  It'll be great. The market has been voted third best in the U.K. after Manchester and Birmingham. I haven't been to the first two but love York's!   I'm up there next month so will sample it myself then! Have a Fat Rascal in the lovely cafe for me though whilst you and hubby are there! 😋

  • These bugs that are going round seem to linger for ages Milann, I hope you get rid of it asap 🤞A trip to York is something lovely to look forward to , DD is on about us going for a visit after Christmas but I would need to find someone to look after all the pets. We were going to go to Bath to visit the Christmas market but I couldn't get the time off and we couldn't find anyone to look after the pets, maybe next year we will get to go 😊

OBL you’ll have to book time off early for next year. I’ve never been to Bath but have 3 nights booked in the summer to see Michael Bouble….guest of my friend. I thought the accommodation was fairly expensive….it’s a Holiday Inn but in a good position for the show so I presume they’ll have hiked the prices up because there is a show on. It will be worth it 😁
I love the Manchester Christmas Markets but NOT at weekend where it’s like being on a conveyer belt being pushed along in the crowd 😳😳 Mid week is the way to go. I usually end up going a few times though 😀😀
If we can walk into your favourite cafe we will SG but we queued best part of an hour once when we’d gone for our ruby wedding anniversary - somehow I don’t think I’ll get dh to do that again…..😂😂😂he still moans about last time 😂😂😂
I felt a lot better so this afternoon we ended up walking into town to try and get a Harry Potter birthday card for gdd who will be 8 later this week. Nowhere had them. So I’ve ended up ordering her one on line. I do prefer to make or buy from a shop though and write it with my own handwriting. I haven’t seen my town as busy as it was today for a long, long time. There was a lovely atmosphere. There were a few Christmas huts in the town centre and the market area had a makers  market on. We ended up eating in the old hen market which has been revamped and has artisan food stalls. We both ate from a Cambodian stall and it was delicious…..the only thing is the food arrived at different times. Dh had eaten his before mine came…..I expect this if we order from different outlets but not when we ordered from the same place 😵‍💫 it was a lovely unexpected afternoon anyway. But that’s my lot I’m pooped…..if we want any tea there is leftover pork and potatoes but dh can sort it 👍

Later in the afternoon seems to be a good time to visit the cafe as the queue sometimes isn't so long. I must say that in all the years I have been going there I've always queued unless we've gone there for dinner in the evening and then we've walked straight in.
Glad to hear your feeling better and you enjoyed your visit into your town today.  I think once the run-up to Christmas starts, you can experience a really nice atmosphere in some towns.  🎄

I’ve been doing quite a lot of thinking about the rut I’ve got myself into since I’ve had no structure in my life. So tomorrow it stops.
I’ve got into the habit of coming downstairs and switching the tv on and playing on the ipad. It can be into the afternoon when I draw myself away if I haven’t got something particular to do. I’m worse now than I was when I was recovering from various things 😏 So…..

     - I’ve just booked a half hour session in either the gym or pool for 9.30 3 days next week. Ive no intention of overdoing it, but using it as a means of getting a routine 👍
     - I’m not going to switch the tv on until later in the day after I’ve done something productive with my time - be it craft, gardening or housework.
     - I’m going to make meal and shopping list…and try to stick to them 😂😂 the freezer was full of duplicates of things that need using. I used to defrost my freezer at least a couple of times a year during school holidays…..that hasn’t been happening.
I’ve never had so much time on my hands and done so little 😵‍💫😳 I know it’s a period of adjustment and I suppose I’m still getting my head around some medical issues but I do need to get some structure in my life. When I was working I used to do the minimum during the week. Do a bit more at weekend and have a mega blitz at the beginning of every school holiday - that way I could enjoy the rest of the holidays knowing things had been done. But now the holidays have gone so has my blitzing 😂
    So that’s the plan 👍
Today my friend is coming around at 4 - we will walk into town and find somewhere to eat (😂😂 she is less adventurous than me and I don’t do spices…..so not sure if I’ll be able to tempt her into the artisan food place we went yesterday), have a couple of drinks before heading to the theatre at 7 to see The Drifters…..hope my throat doesn’t pack up again as I know I’ll be singing at the top of my voice 😀
Right off to do something productive until then. 👍

It’s still early days for you with getting into a routine now you’ve finished work. Sounds like you’re making a good start on a plan though. It took one of my friends ages to get into a routine when she retired, she says she still hasn’t done some of the things she planned to and she finished work 8 years ago.

    Enjoy The Drifters 🎶💃

  • Hope you have a lovely time tonight with your friend .
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • I love your list milann. I'm still pottering around not doing half the things I was going to do when I retired in May. But hey-ho - I'll get around to them eventually!😀

Have a wonderful time this evening at The Drifters show!
