We last went to Holmfirth about 20 years ago. I bought Mr SA a helicopter ride for his birthday and it took off from a field near the Cat and Fiddle pub. We had a walk round Holmfirth first as it wasn’t that far away.

SA bet  you saw some spectacular scenery. It’s lovely when you just drive around there so seeing it from above - wow - what an experience. We often go along the cat and fiddle road. It’s about a 30/40 minute drive from here. There was talk of making it into a micro distillery to give the pub a new lease of live. That was just before lockdown though so not sure if it went ahead or not.

It was a beautiful day yesterday and dh asked if I wanted to go out but my toe was sore - the bruising is now a deep purple but it’s not nearly as sore or swollen as it was….and I was absolutely shattered so we spent a day just mooching around the garden. We had a bbq - something we rarely do and put the trains on, I love it at dusk. I was quite pleased to tidy an area where I’d been growing potatoes in sacks…..the gks loved uprooting them 🥰 I was gifted some rhubarb - in a dry root state. I’m sorry to say I think I’ve killed it off as I didn’t plant it straight away and it looks very sorry for itself. My beautiful pots near the front door are looking a tad sad too…they’ve been in bloom since spring so I can’t complain.I’m hopefully going to save the pelargonium and fuchsia by putting them in my mini greenhouse for next year. I think I need some over winter pansies fairly soon to renew the pots.
I’ve rather craftily suggested dh asks some friends he’s been running a zoom group with over lockdown….it’s the last get together before the U3A he goes to with them starts again the following week…..it’ll spur him into finishing some bits of railway jobs he started full of enthusiasm but life got in the way…..he has taken this week off using hours he’s accrued by working late.
At some point over the weekend we are heading to a NT place with ds but not sure if that’ll be today or tomorrow.
SW regime has been much easier this week…..I’ve resisted the lovely baguette and egg custards dh brought in to treat me with 😏.

I didn’t go in the helicopter 😱 it was just Mr SA. He didn’t really enjoy it apart from the view, he was a bit frightened.

I hope your toe improves. You've had a lovely week with your family. 💕
I'm pleased to read that DH has taken off some time in lieu for all the overtime he has been doing recently

@Sun_Addict - did you send Mr SA up in the helicopter on purpose?🤣🤣🤣.

We have visited a garden centre and B&Q looking at pansies. 40 for £15 in garden centre, 40 for £10 in B&Q 40 for £6 in Morrison’s so I bought mine from Morrison’s 😁 I really want to go out and plant them but a friend asked me to crochet some baby blankets for her. I did one a couple of weeks ago and she said she wanted the 2nd one for September……she has been asking when it’ll be ready so am frantically crocheting…..but I have to rest my arm every half hour or so. Hopefully I’ll have it finished tonight - just the edging to finish now…….

I’m sure your friend won’t be too disappointed if you don’t finish the blanket until your arm stops hurting. Still time yet though.

Finished it at 11.30 last night. Stuck it in the washer and then dried it this morning…..I’m glad I persisted as the prem baby has been in hospital months and going home today. All the family are going to see her come out of hospital……
It has definitely confirmed I don’t want to make a business out of crafts…..took any pleasure out of it. I’d rather take my time and gift items.
My arm is really aching today but was worth it to see the smile on friends face 😁
