I think the lowest point of our refurb was the night we had a toilet and a bucket of water for flushing and a washing up bowl for washing ourselves. Thankfully only for one night. Glad the end is in sight.

The end isn’t as close as I thought 🙄😳
We went to Howdens to tell them we’re ready for the quartz to be fitted......1 st December is the earliest date 😳😳 When we got home to tell our builder- he’d just taken all the old worktops to the tip 😳😳 The manager was on the phone trying to get it earlier for us but no joy. So I’ve no kitchen sink or worktops to the cupboards as the sink gets fitted with the quartz. The builder is going to try and get me a used one for tomorrow as a temporary measure.
We’ve just blown virtual candles and cake with my eldest gdd who is 7 today.
I was chatting with dd yesterday and littlest gdd was making a house in the background. I crocheted dolls blankets when eldest was tiny and they’ve seen better days.....little gdd was showing me a hole in the blanket so I said I’d make some more and send them with the postman. She said ‘No Grandma - you come here and ding dong on that door and we can play’ talk about bringing a tear to my eye 😢😢

Basically the union lady has advised me to go for retirement through I’ll health, as she reckons if I don’t work will just get rid of me. 😳😳
Deep down I suppose I know it needs to happen and these were my first thoughts when I was in hospital. Will have to see what happens if and  when I see an independent doctor.
Feeling a bit meh about everything tonight. I visualised sorting my kitchen next week.

Have to say that I think your union person is correct.
I think ill health retire4ment is the way to go.
At least then you will get your pension & a small lump sum.

  • I'm sorry the talk with the union person wasn't what you wanted to hear, but it's still worth having that knowledge.

How frustrating about your kitchen, but at least it will be finished in time for Christmas and you have two toilets  🚽🚽.

Feeling meh and fed up so need to think of some positives today....
The kitchen is still progressing slowly. 😄
I went to the downstairs loo instead of having to traipse upstairs 😄
Even if I have to finish work- I’m ok and will have interests to keep me amused once the builders have finished 😄 especially when we can meet friends again 😄
I need to go to B&M around the corner to see if I can get some hand towels, a free standing toilet roll  holder and a little bin for the new room. The essential shopping rules seem a bit crazy as to what you can and can’t buy from where. I wouldn’t class them essential but the shop is open to sell them and I’ll buy milk and bread in there too....so will still only visit 1 shop.
We went to the carpet shop we’d bought the vinyl from yesterday for a refund on the stuff that got held up in transit.......it was locked up but the manager came out to us saying they couldn’t allow us in and would we phone up for the refund.....so we phoned from the carpark he said he knew the police station across the road was watching them.......makes me think they shouldn’t have been open the day we bought the vinyl....I was surprised when it was open 😳😳 Distant buying only now though......

So the labourer who has worked his socks off whilst the boss man’s son had sauntered in when he feels like it has been to the hospital this morning.....he’s had a lump in his neck which has grown even whilst he’s been working here......the outlook isn’t good for him. So boss builder is here working instead....he is pretty upset as I think they’ve been friends since childhood. So I’ve been making copious amounts of tea to keep him going. The electrician has arrived too and walked straight in from a muddy job....I nearly cried when I saw the footprints all over the carpet....but hey - that’ll clean - need to keep things in perspective. So I didn’t ask about a sink either....we can carry on using sink in the bathroom upstairs.
One day we’ll have a job done with no complications....
