The vinyl is stuck in Belgium and won’t be able to get here until mid December 😡 Apparently containers are backlogged somewhere in EU....something to do with Brexit....no idea what’s going on 😡😡 So we are cancelling it.
I got through to HR about changing the appointment- the lady seemed lovely and willing to try to accommodate this.....will see what school have to say.
What was going to be a lovely stress and builder free day where I was going to chill downstairs has turned out to be a major hassle day all round with phone calls and general stressiness. Dh is on the edge and really stressed. NEVER again......how I long for the days where you could just go to the shops with the choice that was there and get it there and then without too much choice or the complications that go with it 🤔😳

How annoying about the flooring. Wonder how many times the Brexit excuse will be used in future when companies don’t deliver 🤔 It will be worth it in the end honestly I’ve been there.

  • Definitely call and make an appointment with your local CAB for advice on what help you would be entitled to if you do finish work. What a pain about the flooring,I would be stressed out as well. So sorry to hear about your little friend at school, working with children who have cancer it has never ceased to amaze me how they deal with something that is so scary, they also tend to bounce back from various treatments much more easily than adults do. I hope there is something they can do for her 😟

  • Glad that your kitchen refit has started but sorry you have had so much grief with the flooring.  Surely with your health issues you should be entitled to PIP or ESA should you be forced to retire early on medical grounds? Good idea to get the union involved.

I think a lot of delays in goods etc will either be blamed on Brexit or Coronavirus so a lot of us will be frustrated over the next few months or even years. Annoying when you are recovering from illness though as I expect this is the last thing you need.  Just think how lovely it will be when it is all done though.

My builder has come up trumps and got some vinyl for the utility room from a ‘mates warehouse’  it’s not exactly what we chose but good enough......let’s face it I will be going in the room to do the washing and go into it for a wee 😱😏 good enough at half the price is fine by me 👍😂😂 He is fitting it as I type. If dh likes it I might get the same stuff in the kitchen area. It’s a lighter colour than I’d reckoned on but is looking ok.
We have a friend with a model shop and follow his posts. Basically he had a long rant about how his stock has been held up in various ports and he has no idea how long it will take to arrive - scary times. 😱😱 So maybe the vinyl shop were right 😳😳

I’ve just been out for a quick walk to Morrison’s. I bought a meal deal for £3 and sat on a bench for a rest to eat it before walking back.
My eating has gone off the scale - too many take aways whilst we’ve been doing the house alterations so yesterday I decided to take things back in hand when I can get in my kitchen.
Yesterday I had omelette with mushroom and tomato for breakfast, beef sandwich with salad for dinner and hm wedges with lamb mince, aubergine and tomato spiced with cinnamon and allspice.....de-lic-ious 😀
Today hasn’t been as good as at times there are 3 workmen downstairs and it’s tricky to get in the kitchen
    breakfast - toast
dinner - takeaway meal deal low fat sandwich and pot of fruit and coffee
tea - if I can use my kitchen will be rice and hm sw meal from freezer.....if I can’t it’ll be a takeaway
It is what it is atm. Hopefully I’ll have a fully functional kitchen by next week and will get back on track.  I did wonder if some of the stomach aches I had last week after my walk were diet related as well....

  • We lived off stuff we could cook in the microwave when we had our kitchen done last year.  So lots of soup, sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes and ready meals.  Not ideal but tricky when you cant get into the kitchen.

Good news about the vinyl. We were the same when we had our new kitchen, the microwave was our saviour. It’s only a short term thing you’ll soon be back to normal.
