Grrrr...just lost a long rambling post basically saying I’ve got mixed feelings about early retirement.
I’d like it to be under different circumstances- my choice to go rather than feeling I’m having my arm twisted up my back. I’ll miss working with the children and some of my close friends we have some good fun and there’s never a dull moment. On the other hand I am quite happy at home most of the time especially once we’re out of these lockdowns. I’ve no idea how I’ll fare financially as I haven’t been in the school pension scheme a long time. I did a silly thing and worked for a a trust for best part of 10 years that didn’t come under the local authority....not my wisest move in retrospect. We managed when our children were little and I didn’t work. It’s just the 2 of us now and we’ve not got a mortgage and are debt free so it’d be a case of tightening our purse strings.....just at the time I was ready to splash out and have some nice trips. It’ll be what it’ll be.January spends - £587.581 -
Dh is off work today and it’s looking as if it’s going to be a nice day. We’ve booked to go to a NT ground about a half an hours drive away. It’ll do us good to get into the fresh air and away from this building site of a house. Not sure how far I’ll be able to walk but we should be able to see some deer 😀 and get a takeaway coffee from somewhere.January spends - £587.581

I’m getting frustrated as I’m struggling to find any of my clothes to nicely over my new little friend that has basically saved my life. The waistband of my trousers go right across the middle of the bag and it’s uncomfortable and does look too good either. So I’m fluctuating between a couple of outfits. I need baggy tops too - but many are too baggy on the shoulders. I’ve got 1 tunic and a jumper that look Ok ish. When my children were younger I used to make some of their clothes....so I’ve just had a brainwave of making some clothes for me. I think I’m being a bit ambitious as I’m a bit of a novice and haven’t used my sewing machine to make clothes for about 30 years......but I might just give it a go once all the builders have gone.
Ive spent the last half hour browsing patterns on line....a bit of a shock at the price of them 😳😳 I spent many a trip into town browsing big catalogues of patterns with my bestie....as a teenager - she is an absolute whizz with a sewing machine. We’d come out with a handful of patterns for next to nothing 😂😂 She’d make all sorts - I usual handed my half finished project her way for alterations and to be finished 😂😂Lol watch this space.I suppose my fashion designer dd might come in useful after all. Wish she lived closer.January spends - £587.581 -
Do you wear jeans Milan,if so M&S high waisted jeans do come up quite high, I'm wearing a pair of their jeggings today with a long tunic top to hide my lumpy bits and the waist band comes up really high, they are also really soft, although they don't have a zip so jeans or trousers might be better 😊Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,736 Owed = £10,8941

Mixed feelings indeed.Your health is first though. At least you won’t need to get up early doors. You should get a wee lump sum too.Make sure it is early retirement on grounds of ill health 😊I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. After doing a lot of thinking today I have contacted the union and asked for somebody to be in the meeting with me. I’m not confident talking in an on line meeting and am likely to agree to anything to get off screen 😳 Somebody is ringing me in the morning. I’ve paid my union dues for years and only ever asked for advice once. I’m usually fairly easy going but not sure how this might go or how I really feel about it....I go hot and cold between wanting to finish and maybe wanting to stay. I think I need a fresh pair of eyes on my side. I don’t think it’d be the end of the world if the decision is made for me 😳😳OBL I am currently wearing M&S jeans they have a high elasticated waist.....I used to think they were too high but they go right over the bag. I never had this problem last time as the bag was a couple of inches lower. Elastic is definitely better than a zip. It’ll be a trial and error experience with clothes I think 😏January spends - £587.582

Good idea to get the union rep involved. I’ve been a notetaker in similar meetings on many occasions and they always have a union rep with them.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
