Been a surreal day - dh couldn’t go out to his usual U3A. I nipped to Aldi this morning for a couple of bits and got everything I wanted - except paracetamol for ds.... Aldi were quite well stocked - a big difference to the last couple of times I’ve popped in. People were keeping their distance too.We went out for a walk and called into see ds. I listened to a good explanation about social distancing this morning from a doctor on the radio....it reassured me about going for walks and visiting ds.The engineer came to look at my washer whilst I was at the shop and condemned it. Gave us a number to ring for a replacement. Dh had to phone 3 different lots of people and tell the tale of what happened, each one asked for the model number and confidently told us that our model wasn’t affected 😳😳😳😳 the smell of burning and the photos the engineer took said different - so now we’re waiting for somebody else to ring us back within the week and sort a washer out for us then we will have to see what they say about a delivery slot. But at least it’s being sorted. I’ll take my washing to ds at weekend but this time I’ll try not to wreck his machine with my bras.
Work haven’t been in touch with any work but I suspect they will at some point.January spends - £587.582 -

They didn’t listen to a word dh said - ‘your engineer has been out and condemned the washer today’......think they had their fingers in their ears....read from script.....’can we have the serial number......that machine isn’t affected’ 😳😳😳 BUT IT iS - YOUR engineer has just condemned it!!!!!!!!!! - got to say he handled it better than I would have - my pet hate is folk not listening. If that’s my biggest worry - life can’t be too bad 👍 At least it’ll be sorted, it didn’t burn my house down and I haven’t got a houseful of children making washing.
I’m trying not to focus on the virus and the news. I do a ‘happy book’ and jar with slips of paper with ‘happy memories and things’ with a little one I work with. So I’m going back to posting some positives from my day to keep my spirits up.
- walk under the blue(ish) sky
- getting most of what I needed from Aldi
- spending time with dh
- listening to a doctor on the radio making sense of distance isolation
- promise of a solution for my washing machine dramaJanuary spends - £587.582 -
I wonder if they would have still being saying the same thing if it had caused a real bad fire. Words fail you sometimes . Glad you got all your shopping, corner shops have been good for paracetamol.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2

What a palaver about the washing machine - such crap service. 😠
Its good that you're focusing on the positives and managed to get your shopping. Hope your son is doing well. I couldn't get any paracetamol today too - will try SG2's tip.XFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I’ll try that - thanks ladies. The trouble is all the little corner shops have closed down around here. Morrison’s and Aldi are closer to me than the corner shop used to be.....so the little independents have been pushed out and shut down. I’m going to try the chemist when I drop my prescription in later.January spends - £587.583

Dire service from Hotpoint, hope they sort it out for you soon.
There's been a lot of mention in the media of us forgetting about our local shops for supplies. When all the big supermarkets were out of loo roll one of our local independent shops had loads stacked up. Hopefully folks will remember to keep using them when all this is over.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2 -
Just been to our local shop for a paper, they have full shelves but are limiting toilet rolls , paracetamol etc. Of course they are slightly dearer but if you only need 1 or 2 things it's worthwhile. I must say the shop I went into didn't have inflated prices and was even selling cardboard face masks 😳Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.2
