Yes I’m with you all on being really cheesed off with the pension age. I’m all for equality so my take is - the age should have been 63 for both men and women. If the men wanted to work longer - that’s their choice. This would have freed jobs up for youngsters - saving the social security paid (or whatever it’s called now) out to them. I can see in a few years they’ll be even less work for youngsters than there is now.....right I’ll get off my soap box:p
I had a lovely time on Saturday- I’d bought my friend tickets for The Drifters at our local theatre - it was her 60th back in July but the show was Saturday. OK there’s non of the originals but they were fantastic. I’d lost my voice on Sunday after all the ‘singing’....not sure if you could call it singing on my part though. A lot of the songs are sentimental to me and I’ve seen them many times. Had a great night - we went to the local market for food - it’s recently been overhauled and various independent artisan food places are there which are really nice.

On Sunday I went to Costc0 with dh - £50 later. I got some lovely meat though which is frozen in portions. Don’t think I needed a big jar of maple syrup for £8 but dh seemed to think we did.....I don’t mind if he uses it - but I suspect it’ll sit in the cupboard as he often ‘needs’ various sauces, spices and pastes which sit there years until I throw them out.....

Today I’ve had a general tidy up but can’t do duvets yet so dh did them for me. The gks are arriving on Wednesday- we’re picking them up from dds in-laws and bringing them back here. We’ll go out for the day on Thursday - maybe to seaside town with zoo and big tower but it’s dependent on the weather and how tired they are as they’re having a busy half-term and might need a chill out day. Dd is coming after she finishes work on Thursday so it’ll be late when she arrives here. I’m pretty sure eldest gk will be fine as she’s stayed here without her parents before but it was a good while ago now but youngest hasn’t stayed without mum - but she is a grandmas girl and doesn’t leave my side when I’m around - so I’m hoping they’ll be fine. It’s only 1 night until their mum comes and dh will be on hand to help. Dd wasn’t sure if I’d manage them but between us we will have loads of fun. I’m quite excited :T

I met most of my targets last week-
    I had 2 NSDs :D
    I maintained my weight :D
I blitzed my kitchen - a bit each day :D
I only managed the gym once - tai chi set my hip off again:o

I didn’t go to SW but put £5 away and weighed myself at home. I’m struggling atm with it and everyone is lovely but I feel quite embarrassed and feel I’m coming up with lots of excuses in group as I’m getting nowhere with it. I’m leaving it a couple of weeks and might go back again but might see how I do myself...

    This weeks targets
    2 NSDs
Not to completely spoil the Gks
Bake belated birthday cake with children for their mum
Keep on top of housework the best I can but it’ll be a houseful and lots of toys around for most of the week....

It’s Dh birthday in a couple of weeks and we’re playing with the idea of a long weekend away....

Well today definitely wasn’t a NSD - I must have spent about £150 but that included getting my car cleaned, bumper pack of loo rolls - not quite sure what the family do with it  when they visit but I never remember going through so much when dd lived at home....I bought some lovely flowers to take to dds mum in law who is 70 soon and we will see her tomorrow. I went to the local market for some buttons for the cardigans that are very nearly finished for the gks. The stall is an run by an old gentleman and he’s sold buttons for years - I bought 12 for £1.80 - less than half the price of the pre packed ones. I’ll miss him if he ever sells up - but I do wonder how he makes it pay. And I visited Morrison’s- not the most organised shop I’ve ever done as I’m not sure what we’re actually doing when they’re here...and I wanted to cover a few options...so I threw all sorts in the trolley.....and it is currently sitting in the middle of my kitchen waiting to be put away so I’d best get a wriggle on. No rest for the wicked :o

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been a bit spendy today. £8 on maple syrup :rotfl:.

I'm sure the DGC will have a lovely time staying the night with you :).

Can I just say, please don't give up on the SW, keep going to your meetings, you might not always get the results you'd hoped for but just going will keep you accountable. I've been a WW Gold Member for 17 years now, the one time I stopped going to meetings the weight started piling back on so I go every week if I can.

Remember you're only human and it's not meant to be easy, it's a journey not a destination. No one will judge you for it. Don't give up xx

I think we’re all quite excited about the gks staying. I’ve just had a message saying the children ‘just can’t wait.’
We’re leaving here about 7 in the morning and picking them up from where they’re staying with their Nanna and Dad and Auntie for a couple of days. We will have them all to ourselves until late Thursday when my dd will come home until Monday - I can’t remember the last time they were here for so long - it’s usually a rushed weekend.

I’ve been dosing myself up with anti inflammatory meds and paracetamol and thankfully my hip is settling down again. I’ve been a bit wary of swimming or tai chi just in case it flares up. I’ve spoken to a couple of people who have slated the particular doctor I saw and apparently he has a reputation for being rude and dismissive.....

Thanks SA - I will get my head back into gear. I’m going to text my SW lady and tell her I’ll rejoin next rather than paying for missed weeks. When I thought about it I’d miss the website and I’ve made some good friends there - I quite enjoy the social side :o Im just fed up of seeing lots of new people come and loose literally stones whereas I’m putting the same couple of pounds on and off and have been for a good while. A clean slate to erase all my history and start again...it works - I know it does but I need to do it properly rather than thinking of it as a social occasion :p My meals are fine but all this time off work is making me eat just out of boredom. I know it makes lots of sense healthwise - I want to get in clothes I can’t anymore but I self sabotage myself at every opportunity :eek:

  • You need to get your head into the right place with the weight loss. I know it's not easy. I have chocolate, biscuits etc only as a treat as once I start eating them I can't stop. But that wouldn't work for everyone. It's finding what works for you. When you've lost weight successfuly in the past how did you do it? What is different about your eating/exercise routine now than it was back then?

Don't give up though as I know you can do it :).

Shattered.com :rotfl::rotfl: we picked the girls up yesterday after a 2 and a half hour journey and headed home with them. It took over 3 hours getting home. The little one slept about an hour and the elder one nodded off but not for long and after a few late nights with cousins on her dads side of the family was a bit whiny and grumbly. They had a lovely play here once home and an early night.....and slept right through until gone 7. :rotfl: but I’d been awake listening for them from about 5 :eek:
We were going to go to seaside and illuminations today but after late nights and long journeys decided to just go to our local NT place. Much fun was had having a picnic, finding acorns and planting them - simple things and all that. Once home they played, painted, and baked a cake. Although I wanted to take them to the illuminations they’d have been tired and whiny - just not worth the effort.
Their mum will be home in about an hour.
The only down side has been my hip which is driving me mad....

  • Glad to hear the pick up went well and that you have enjoyed time with the grandchildren. Hope mum makes it soon as the weather is horrible.

Hopefully after some sleep the hip will be rested.
