  • Great news about the tax rebate :).

Good luck with SW. If you know it works for you then it makes sense to go. Rejoining seems to work economically, although does that mean you'd have to join a new group?

Would swimming hurt your hip as it's non weight bearing? It would certainly help you lose weight and it is a gentle exercise on the joints but which burns a lot of calories. Although I find swimming always makes me starving hungry for some reason.

Hairy the physio has told me not to swim properly as the strain on the elbow joint is still too much but to generally just move about in the water and build it up. I’m hoping my hip will be ok - I’m aware I need to keep it moving. I can still go to my usual SW group. It will erase my history and I can start from scratch again and aim for my half stone award and some body magic (exercise) awards for starters.
Well the sick note saga continues.....the physio phoned me today and told me she tried to get hold of The Prof who did the surgery last week when his clinic was on but he was on annual leave....she had left a message for his secretary which is why the receptionist from physio suggested I phone there yesterday...which is when I found secretary was on leave too.....anyway......the physio went to see The Prof today - told him where i was up to and how uncooperative my GP has been. So I have a sick note ready and waiting for me when I go to physio on Thursday....6 weeks not the 4 weeks I was expecting. You watch I’ll end up with another from the GP...a bit like busses you wait ages and and they all turn up together. I hope I can go back at the end of this as I’ll definitely be on half pay by then and I want to be back for Christmas.
I’ve had a lazy day today - catch up Corrie - yes I needed tissues :o
This afternoon I pottered in the garden for a short while potting up some of the plants that arrived last week. I’ve still got a few to do as it took longer than I expected and went dark on me.
I’ve made an appointment at the GPs for my hip it’s not until another 3 weeks - that was the first available  and it’s not with the doc I saw last time. Hopefully my hip with improve and I can cancel nearer the time but I need to sort something out with it.

  • What a debacle just to get a sick note! You couldn't make it up! I do hope your hip improves too.

You sound like you had a wonderful time with your GC. Hopefully it won't be too long before you see them again.

And great news on OH's tax rebate! That's the sort of mail we love to receive!:j

Hope you enjoy your next SW meeting and it spurs you on to a good weight loss.

I’d planned a NSD yesterday but i ended up buying petrol and posting dds work fob to her - which she had left here....I always end up posting something back to her after a visit. I drove around to my friends - her grown up granddaughter ended up coming around unexpectedly- she’s a bit of a drama queen and we ended up doing lots of running around sorting her current problem with her - it made me appreciate how lucky I am with my uncomplicated family. Ooooh how I hope I haven’t tempted fate with that comment.....

I did a bit of knitting and pottering around. I need a project I can do as I’m getting very bored being off work. I was very excited yesterday too when I realised I can grate cheese again - I did enough for me but had to get dh to do his own. You wouldn’t believe how hard grating with your least dominant hand is.....or how fulfilling realising I could do it was :D

I’m at physio this afternoon and probably a trip to our fave cafe at the seaside place with the illuminations.

I’m quite pleased with my Optimistic October
    I managed at least 12 NSDs :D
I reduced my screen time :D
Used my gym membership (not as much as I wanted due to dodgy hip) :o
Decluttered my living room, and kitchen :D
Jet washed my paved areas :D
    Planted spring flowers :D
I didn’t do too well with the weight loss:(

So now I’m into Notable November (a week at a time)
    Week 1
    - 3 NSDs
    - try to use gym membership twice
    - reduce screen time
    - sort spare bedrooms
    - no weight gain - choose wisely when out 3 times
    - plan food a couple of days at a time
    - general tidy and stay on top of it

I went to SlimmingWorld this morning and re joined. This means all my yo-yoing history is deleted and it’s a new start. I bought a countdown - which means you pay in advance for 10 sessions and get 2 free. I also go a sw diary as a freebie which has lots of hints and tips in it. I’m currently feeling quite motivated- long may it last:beer: I think the couple of week break did me good. I used a voucher so I didn’t need to pay admin joining fee:money:
The sick note saga continues......I toddled off to physio yesterday to be greeted with ‘oh - didn’t you get the message - your physio has phoned in sick’ I blooming well didn’t get the message or I wouldn’t have travelled an hour to get there:eek: I asked if she’d left my sick note - nobody knew anything about it.....the receptionist reassured me she would chase it up and get it in the post to me.....watch this space some more. I saw a different physio who was very nice.
We went to seaside place with tower after physio and travelled along the illuminations again and had fish and chips in our favourite cafe. We had a walk but only a short one....when I think a few weeks ago we walked just short of 30,000 steps there - I did just over 5,000 yesterday and was in agony :(
I’m not sure what the plan over the weekend is. It’s dh birthday on Thursday- we’d half planned going away but dh says he’d rather wait for better weather ( I suspect he wants me to rest my leg) I’ve no idea what to get him...

Mse wise I spent £54 to get £100 of build a bear vouchers - this will go for gdds birthday and part Christmas presents, it might even stretch to Easter too. Ds had seen the offer on some hot deal site - it was an offer at Costco and since I’ve recently joined I went for it. I might not have spent £100 in rip off bear shop but would certainly spent close to £50 for both their birthdays.....blooming toys will be better dressed than me at this rate :rotfl::p But I suppose grandchildren are for spoiling and we all enjoyed the recent visit to choose and build a soft toy...they enjoyed seeing the toy cat being stuffed etc - the grown ups enjoyed watching them but it’s definitely a 1 off.
Ds has also recommended me to a site that saves cash on mobile phone use if you spend in certain stores. I often spend in Morrison’s and that’s one of the participants- will have to see how it fares.
Ds came around today and we went for a short walk at a place not too far away - walked along the river to a small town, ds treated us to dinner - I was good and had a jacket potato and a couple of spoonfuls of cake from dh and ds - so I’m quite pleased with that. Then we walked back. I did just over 5000 steps - a fraction of what I usually do - dosed myself with anti-inflammatory meds’ and gel and paracetamol but could barely put my foot on the floor by the end of the walk, it’s driving me mad:eek::mad: I refuse to give in to it though or I’ll end up not going out as we love walking.
My Notable November targets so far -1 NSD yesterday.

Not sure where time has gone and I haven’t done much. Feeling a bit bleugh after having the family home. Missing them and is my sisters anniversary tomorrow - can’t believe it’s 28 years since we giggled and put the world to rights together. I’ll have to put my thoughts back into happy mode though as she passed away on my dh birthday - it’s a blessing in disguise really though as I don’t want to be sad on his birthday and have to make an effort. She passed away on my dh birthday and was buried on her sons 22nd birthday - he’ll be 50 in a few days.....so his card is in the post with a little something for a token drink as he’s going away for his birthday - I only send for significant birthdays now though and he’s my fave - lives a couple of hundred miles away from me now but we keep in touch.
As for dh - I haven’t got a clue what to buy him so we’ll go out somewhere nice and have something to eat and I’ll get him something then - I’m not just getting something for the sake of it that sit on a shelf. So it depends on the weather tomorrow as to whether we travel to a town about an hour away with a Festival of Lights or just head to our local big shopping mall.
I’ve done ok (ish) so far with my targets
    - 2 NSDs so far :D
    - 2 short swims - but I did it :D
    - screen time has been a bit hit and miss - I’ve been sitting in front of the goggle box a bit too much but not been on line as much
    - I’ve done ok with the tidying
And sorted the bedrooms except for a little corner of toys which need sorting.

  • I'm sorry about your sad anniversary Milann. I hope you and DH managed to get some enjoyment out of his birthday despite it.
