  • You Snowdonia rail trip sounded great fun. It may have been expensive, but, as you say, it was something your OH had on his bucket list and you didn't get to go on a proper holiday this year. It's nice to splash out sometimes.

How annoying about your doctor though!

I know what you mean about the 0% balance transfer CCs. I feel quite smug when I occasionally receive these in the post and they then get binned straight away!:rotfl:

I drove for the first time today - a couple of 10 minute trips and I knew I’d done it as my arm and shoulder ached but it felt good. I wouldn’t want to do a long journey.
I took my sick note to work - so I know I’m ok doing that journey :D Occy health are phoning me to do a telephone assessment then I’m good to go in a week on Monday....I’m actually feeling ready for it now. My aim is to try and get out and about a bit by myself this coming week - I’ve got to get past the fear I’ve acquired recently - it’s so not me:o
Then I drove to the tram station and got on the tram to go to see my brother. He picked me up at his end and dropped me off at station again. He looked rough today and is looking his 70plus years. Not quite sure how his wife puts up with him - she’s amazing. I think the world of him really but I couldn’t live with him :rotfl::rotfl:
I got off the tram in big city near me on my way home and met dh - he’d been on a freebie history tour around big city to do with the recent 200 year Peterloo Anniversary run by a friend of a friend.
We went to see the new film about Lowry and his mother. The acting was good but it wasn’t a feel good film by any stretch if the imagination - it was quite sad. There were quite a few scenes from my local town which was nice to see. So I made the most of my £4.20 :money: day tram ticket by visiting cheaper cinema in town where 2 of us visit there for less than the price of 1 in our local cinemas - and I’d bought the tram ticket anyway as I wanted to see my brother before I went back to work to let him see I was ok as he worries :p.... So MSE apart from a sandwich and drink I bought, dh paid for cinema which was good.
I’m at physio tomorrow so will probably carry on another half hour and go to the coast a bit further on - there’s a kite festival which was postponed earlier this year then a little further on freebie fireworks and illuminations on so should be worth going - providing it’s not raining. I’m hoping I won’t have to go much longer but I have quite enjoyed our outings after the hospital visits:D You’ve got to turn hospital visits and such unpleasant outings into positives if you can ;)

  • Glad to hear you're feeling positive about going back to work milann.

You've had a few nice little MSE trips as well. Enjoy the kite and fireworks festivities today. Hope the rain keeps off.

Went to physio yesterday- she was livid when I’d told her what the gp had said and told me to report him - I can’t be bothered with the stress of it all. Pick your battles :o is one of my mottos.... She gave me new exercises and was a bit reluctant to give me the go ahead for swimming but did reluctantly agree - as long as I take it slowly- don’t think I’ll have much choice other than taking it slowly. So I’ll go on Tuesday to reinstate my membership. I’ve got an interview with occupational health and a friend coming around on Monday.

We went onto a seaside place to see a kite festival which had to be rearranged from August when there had been gales. It was a fantastic atmosphere with a lot of the smaller kites lit up in the dark, although too windy for some of the big kites which was disappointing. Spent at the foodie stalls.....didn’t do much for my SW regime either - I’d paid nearly a fiver to be told I’d put 2 lb on earlier in the day  Then there was a fantastic firework display too but they didn’t start until 9.30 and we had an hour and a halves journey home - so it was a long day - left at 9.30am and arrived home just before midnight.
Had a lazy morning and ds is coming around and we’re walking to our local town where they are having their 1st ever food and drinks festival.....I suspect more cash will be spent at the stalls BUT I must keep an eye on my eating as my lack of willpower is really getting me down:( but I want a life :o got to learn to combine fun and food:beer:

  • Glad to hear that you have a cheerleader in your physio after your shabby treatment by the doctor. Hope the swimming proves beneficial.

Your day out sounded great fun. I hear you though about trying to keep a food balance. It can be so hard. :(

Hope you have a lovely day out with your DS.

We had a lovely time in our home town yesterday....I rarely go since most of the shops I use have shut. I know I should still visit and it’s causing more degeneration if people don’t use it....viscous circle
There were all manner of food stalls, Simon Rimmer from Sunday Brunch was giving demos, the sun was shining and there was a lovely atmosphere with live music. I spent on food and in the bars but it was worth it. DS bought some for us too.
We went back today and I bumped into a lovely lady from work- we had a drink in the sunshine and good old chat. I was gutted when she told me she’s taking an early retirement at the end of the month. She’s another one younger than me - several friends have done this now.
We also visited friend who had the stroke - we only stayed 40 minutes - it’s just heartbreaking. He said his wife has forgotten him - over and over - I daren't tell her - she’s been on holiday with her daughter for 2 weeks and nearly didn’t go but she needed a break, if she thinks it’s upset him she won’t go again She’s back tomorrow so hopefully he’ll settle a bit more again.
So it’s left me feeling bleugh.....I need to pull my big girl knickers up...do the things I want to do....loose the weight I’ve put on, get into my garden and enjoy it again, get back to work, start doing things on my own again. In other words stop putting things off and start living- we never know what’s around the corner......

So my last week off work - I want to get doing things so I can cope when I do go back.....I’ve sat sitting wasting time - I’ve not been able to do much but it also becomes a bad habit and I’ve got used to whiling away time keeping myself busy doing nothing.
I’m at docs tomorrow at 8.30 for blood tests - I really suspect it’ll be a waste of time. I’ve got occupational health at 4 pm and a friend is coming at some point in between - I’m hoping to get to gym to reinstate my membership and start feeling good about myself again - I will get myself as fit as I can :D

I went for blood tests this morning - also did blood pressure tests which were high so I have to go and see nurse for a BP review. They’ve been threatening me with meds for BP for years but I keep resisting. I need to get 2 stone off as when I lost weight previously, my BP went right down.
My friend cancelled and although it’d have been nice to see her I was quite pleased as I went to the gym and reinstated my membership. I did a mess about in the water - treading water, walking and just a bit of swimming as the physio told me to take things slowly, a relax in the jacuzzi, chill out in the aromatherapy and steam room and then tai chi. I used to do tai chi regularly a few years back and loved it but had to stop as I had a 2nd job which clashed. Today made me realise how I’d become unfit - my balance has deteriorated quite noticeably. Trouble is they don’t do an evening tai chi anymore so I’ll only be able to go in the holidays.....or pay elsewhere which I don’t want to do. I realised how I’d missed it though.
I had a phone interview with occupational health today. I’ll do 50% hours for the first 2 weeks back 75% 3rd week and back full time 4th week.
