  • Your foodie day out sounded delish!:)

I'm sorry to hear that your poor friend has deteriorated. :(. And so sorry too for his wife - I hope her holiday done her some good. Can only echo you all - we have to live for today....

Another one here hoping that losing weight will help my BP. I've been on meds for some years now as my BP was very high when diagnosed. The fact that yours went down when you lost 2 stone is very heartening. I'd love to ditch the tablets. :(

I had an induction at the gym yesterday with a lovely girl that looked about 10:rotfl::rotfl: took me through my limited paces - made me feel very old - but was very polite and said I didn’t look 60 - 61 in a couple of weeks:eek: where has this past year gone to ( she didn’t however say how old I looked though - could have been thinking I was 70 :rotfl:)....anyway she introduced me to all the new fancy equipment and it seems easy enough to log into and not too strenuous. There was a very swish weighing machine that told you just where your body is holding fat and apparently you can get the info transferred to your phone via some app.....when anyone with an ounce of technical nouse can....I’ve loaded the app but can’t find the info anywhere. The idea is you see the changes over time....I do like a gimmick to keep me motivated.
What I did realise when looking at the app was that I appear to have been diddled out of a couple of months memebership  when I re enrolled I asked for my membership to be put on hold for 3 months - it looks as if it’s only been on hold for 1 month so I’m off to investigate and have a moan if need be.....
I tried a new breakfast yesterday recommended by a SW member who is a doctor.....chia seeds soaked overnight in yoghurt with frozen berries and cocao. I was unsure about trying it but I saw the seeds an Ald! and they were £1.50 and you only need 2 tablespoons at a time. It was gorgeous and filled me up more than porridge. So I’ve just been reading about said seeds - hype seems to suggest they can help blood pressure so I’m giving them a go to see if they’ll do miracles before I go to see the nurse next week.... I’m not going on meds if I can help it...... I need the weight loss fairy to visit me.

No spending yesterday....I need more days like these. I’m looking forward to getting back into a proper routine when I go back to work.

INOD it’s good luck to have THAT happen :rotfl::rotfl:
I had a chat with a lovely lady from the membership team of the gym - she looked into my query - everything was ok on paper saying they’d put me on hold for 3 months but the computer had only registered a month so she quickly sorted it. I had a lovely time in the pool - a little bit of swimming, some walking and lots of treading water just waving my arms in the water but not putting pressure on to move me along. I think I’ll do that for a while as I can feel the pull on my elbow which I’m supposed to avoid for now. I’m not going today - muscles in my back are letting me know they’ve been used
I’m paid up with my membership until November 2020.....feel free to nag me or kick me up the behind if I neglect to go. It was a waste of money last year...i really enjoy it, it’s good for me SO why do I let it slide. I suppose I’ll let myself off a bit last year as my arm was so sore waiting to get it sorted.
I was rather naughty and treated myself to lunch there - omelette and salad. I could have easily cooked the same at home as I had the makings of what I’d eaten in my fridge. It felt so good though as I’d driven myself and swam. I looked on it as a little celebration and big step in moving forward :D so £7 well spent on my last day at home on my own as dh is around from today.
I’m going to think of some challenges over the next couple of weeks, I’m another year older at the end of the month and I’ve had too much time on my hands to sit reflecting on this past year. I’ve become debt free but didn’t manage any other things I’ve wanted to do, basically I’ve drifted from month to month like I tend to do.....off to make some plans :D:D

  • I've finally caught up - it's been an up and down journey but I'm pleased to read that things are finally looking up for you. Good look with your phased return to work.

I too drift along without a plan - I look forward to reading about yours.

Dh surprised me yesterday with a very early birthday present ( the only slot he could book when he knew I was still off work and no chance to get in at weekend:eek:) afternoon tea at a place across the big town from me that does afternoon teas.....I’ve always fancied it - it’s quite famous for its chocolate and does lots of cookery classes too....he tried to get me in one of those but they were booked up for a good while - I wasn’t too disappointed as I don’t know if my arm is up to it this year but he can try again for next year. It was very nice and I was totally stuffed and ate far too many sweet things...my taste has changed over time as I could have polished off the lot at one time. We brought a doggy bag of lemon drizzle home which I’m going to have with a butty any time now :D The shop they have full of sweet treats and chocolates was to die for. Don’t know if I dare say I preferred it to the famous place in York and it was cheaper too :money::money:
To get the best value of my tram ticket :money::D we stopped in big town on our way home and I bought a couple of small Christmas pressies for some of my great nieces and nephews - I don’t buy much but it’s my only link to my late brother and sister - their grandchildren, just a token to keep in touch really :o that was followed by a drink or 2 in sp00ns. We walked there and back to the tram station so I clocked up 8 miles - feeling a tad stiff this morning so haven’t been swimming as I’d planned....I also booked a week off SlimmingWorld as I’d be throwing best part of a fiver away as I was told I’d put weight on - I’ve eaten at home twice this week. I need a plan and routine back in my life :eek:

Boss has just phoned asking if I can work afternoons next week - I said yes except Thursday when I have an appointment so I’ll probably end up working a full day on Friday instead. That means I can go for a swim each morning en route.

I’m off to meet a lady I work with later for tea and we’re going to see Downton Abbey and she’ll fill me in on what’s been going on at work whilst I’ve been off....just so I don’t put my foot in it when I go back...intriguing :p
