How annoying about the pension - the goal posts keep changing all the time. I had it planned that I would retire at 61 when I finished my mortgage - then my State Pension age was pushed back to 66!
And such bureaucratic nonsense from the podiatry department.....Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Glad the wedding went well. Pension retirement ages changing is so annoying - they tell us to put into a pension and then stop us taking out of it - scary.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Went to SW yesterday as dh has ended up working today - he will get a day in lieu. I lost 1/2lb which I’m pleased with as I’ve had the wedding with lots of food and wine this week
We had a lazy afternoon and watched Peterloo on dvd yesterday. It’s quite hard to think of the cruelty of the authorities.....and hard to visualise the area where it took place - when I think of what it’s like there now. It all happened in the big town about 6 miles up the road from me.
So today my friend is coming around and we’re going to the cinema...she had suggested lunch out but I talked her out of it. I suggested lunch at home first - I’m keeping an eye on my finances and weight....made the excuse I didn’t fancy walking around the rain - of which there is plenty again.
My other friend has just been on the phone about an hour - she is going to her daughters for a week after the bank holiday. and is trying to sort visitors for her dh who had the stroke. So we said we will visit as we haven’t been for a while. It still breaks my heart to see him like that.
I went on line last night looking at the sandals which allow my podiatry inserts to be put in. The last ones I bought cost £110 :eek: but I’ve worn them every dry summer day for a couple of years. There was a sale on for same style for £75 a pair.....so I’ve got a black and red pair heading my way. I can take a pair and have new inserts made for them when my appointment comes through. I’d no intention of buying any but if it makes me feel safe will be worth it:o:oJanuary spends - £587.580 -

Being steady on your feet is really important. Enjoy them. Sorry to hear about your friend's DH's stroke.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Yes I agree about the sandals - I went so long not being able to buy sandals as I couldn’t get inserts in them - boots and trainers in summer really got me down - so when I saw this particular make designed by a podiatrist for inserts I had to get them and they don’t owe me a penny. They are now £120 at full price so I’ll be really pleased with my purchase when they arrive. Virtually a bogof....
We went to see Blinded by the Light this afternoon. Although I’m not a Bruce Springsteen fan - I do quite like his music and I really enjoyed the story that went with it. We went in Bella Italia afterwards so a nice afternoon dodging the rain.January spends - £587.580 -
Agree too about the sandals - if they're comfortable and make you feel secure then they're a real bargain.
Such a shame about your friend - you must be so upset when you visit him.
Your afternoon out today sounded nice and I'm glad you enjoyed the film.

Thanks everyone.
Ds phoned yesterday and since it was the 1st nice day in a good while we went out. We headed to Liverpool and had a bit of a mooch around town then had a walk along the banks of the river where there were plenty big boats sailing and a big cruise ship docked - so plenty to look at and keep us amused. We sat frequently for rests. It was lovely. He treated us to tea too - I had burger with a salad which I swapped for the bun and just a few chips. I was quite pleased with making a change to what I’d have usually eaten.every little helps I suppose - I will get into my dress again.
Only downside is I’ve acquired bright red patches on my lower legs. This has happened before and I’m not sure if it’s because of overheating - I wore a shoe and sock rather than my sandals - or a side effect of the tablets I’m on. It’s not sore, raised or itchy - just looks a right mess and is hot. I think I’m going to reduce the amount of tablets I take just in case......Ive also taken a photo to show GP as the chances of getting an appointment when it flares up will be an impossibility.....January spends - £587.580 -
Your day out in Liverpool with DS sounded a treat! I went to Liverpool a couple of years ago with some friends for the Grand National. We went out on the Saturday night after the races and had a really good time, and then came home Sunday lunchtime. I'd like to go back one day and have a good mooch about. The only other times I've been there was years and years ago when the ex-Mr SSG and I used to go to the Isle of Man TT races on his motorbike. We used to roll up at the Liverpool docks late at night and get the early ferry and then ride straight home when we got back! So I never saw much of Liverpool then!
It could well be the tablets that have caused the redness on your legs. How odd that it is just the lower legs. Hope the decrease in tablets helps. Good idea too to take the photos for the doctor.
