Hi annie , now I really do feel bad!
The thing is , we are the last house in the lane. We are right next to the corn field. The apple tree is on the cornfiels side and as the garden is wide it is about 40 mtrs away from next doors garden. Their complaint is that late afternoon it casts a shadow , but even that is only at the end of their garden. Sometimes I think they just want someting to moan about! Sorry about your tree though xSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Morning All
I've been distracted that many times trying to read the thread that I've forgotten who I'm suppose to be sending ((hugs)) to and who to congratulate so I'll send a general "thinking of you" thought out.
Its very dark and miserable here on the North West coast. Plans for today to go to the market and get some bacon off the butcher and also go in Instores for some underbed boxes which are currently 3 for £8.
When I get back I'm hoping to sort out DD room and collaspe the changing table that is being used as a dumping ground and put all the toys that are on the bottom shelf in the new boxes.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Frogga - sounds to me like they're just being plain difficult. If the tree is on the other side of the property to them and only casts a shadow late afternoon, then I really don't see a problem. At the end of the day, it's YOUR tree on YOUR land, so it's up to you if you want to chop it.
Crikey, there's a house near us that's just bought 40 trees for their back garden!!! No one's said anything about that. Quite a lot of the houses in our road have huge conifers (us included) and again, no moans. We've got rid of some of ours, purely because we were sick of them taking over our entire garden, but we wouldn't dream of asking anyone else to cut their's down.
I say plant a whole forest next to your neighbours fence:D :rotfl:Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Scuzz, you've obviously been chatting to Mr Frog as that was EXACTLY what he wanted to do!!!Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Besides, frogga, you can only prune a fruit tree back when they are dormant - in Nov!
Off to the osteo in a little bit, then I'm ordering some jars so I can make some chutneys - I made plum sauce yesterday and will make some more this afternoon. DH will get some more plums this weekend for jam.
((((HUGS))))) to any who need one!

Good morning everyoen,
catznine - I love little Penny, she is georgeous!!!
Frogga - so glad DH has got another job, hope things work out well x
Mrs mix - hope the council sort out your neighbour without causing you too much trouble!!
Belated birthday wishes to Mrs F
((HUGS)) to anyone who would like, or needs one - my brain has now shut down and i cant remember anything else anyone has said!!!
Still not sleeping, told DD not to come into me last night, and bless her, she stayed in her bed all night. I still woke up tho, after taking hours to drop off. Think i might have to go back to the doctors, as im starting to feel really tierd in the day now.
Actually, the fact im doing a lot in the garden at the moment, might be helping me feel tierd (so why cant i sleep!!!) - ive had a rockery type patch in my garden, which although pretty, is no use to me, so im digging it out (luckily my house is in the corner surrounded by trees, so plenty of places to 'dump' the earth) so i can put some patio stones down, and then i will have more room for the LOs to play. By the end of the day my back and arms are killing me, but it will be worth it.
Full house here today, 3 most of the day, but ive said i will have my friends children whilst she and her hubby have an appointment, so later i will have an extra 4 here!!! They overlap by about half an hour, but they will play outside so it should be ok.
OK, off to finish my breakie, hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Isn't it funny how everyone seems to pick up the same mood. Either peeps are having bad days or as today, everyone seems to be in a positive mood! Long may positive and happy last!
Catznine - soo cute. Bet she's lovely to have around.
Frogga - definately keep the trees! They're far enough away from the neighbours and I bet the trees were there before the neighbours anyway, so they can't say they didn't know they were there. We're losing too many orchards etc to identikit housing estates we need to support our fruit! As long as they are pruned properly there's no reason why they should go. I did hear that some apple trees can be summer pruned too depending on their apple producing type (tip or spur). We give ours a bit of a trim when it gets late summer due to it crowding out our own garden.
Lousy sleep. Second night in a row too.Oh well. Will be doing more painting today trying to finish colour coats, and put up white emulsion at least. Also need to book tickets for US family trip. And see if I can persuade ex-BF (who doesn't speak to current OH) if he'll cat-sit. Will have to pay him "danger-money" as 3 cats now use inside poo-loo, c.f. when he last looked after them, plus kitty-food stinks, but hopefully will cost less than minor mortgage needed for local vet-nurse to visit.
Have a good day folks0 -
Goodmorning
hello to everyone......
catznine...oooooohhhh how cute is she!!!! hubby spied her picture over my shoulder and got quite interested... he thought i was looking at her for us:rolleyes: ... Morning all,
Just thought I'd pop in to say 'hi'.
Love the puppy - - she's soooo cute!!
Frogga, keep the trees!!! How often do your neighbours sit in that part of the garden at that time of day anyway???
I was wondering if any of you would like to post 'taster' jars of your home-made jams and chutneys? I can honestly say I have never tried any of the recipes, but they all sound very delicious!!
Treated myself to a new (second hand) Ford Ka this week. First time ever Ive gone over the £1000 mark for a car!! Our current Nissan Sunny was only £500 over a year ago, and has been a great little run around. Unfortunately it has now seen better days and will sadly be heading for the big crushers yard in the sky. I am just waiting for the postman to bring the new car insurance certificate I can get it taxed on the road from Saturday!! (hurry up postie!!!)
Anyway, must go and inspect the housework and then spend a couple of hours trying to decide what to do and where to start.....
See you later for elevenses.....
LG

Hi - just sat down with a coffee before I go to the gym.
Happy Birthday to MRS FLITTERSNOOP.
CATZNINE - Aunty Beryl's Chutney recipe looks so easy; I've got loads of cooking apples and various other things (but no jars at the moment, so will have to get those tomorrow) so I will definitely have a go at that over the weekend. I love HM chutney but haven't made any for ages.
CATOWEN - I do hope you get some good wholesome sleep - there's nothing worse than feeling so tired.
Well, not much news really; I've just stewed a huge batch of plums and greengages - some of which I'll have with yoghurt for pudding tonight and the rest I'll freeze. Still testing my new fillings so soft food again today! Bovril for lunch (how easy is that!) and HM sausagemeat burgers with jackets for dinner. It's so easy cooking for one - and cheap!
Anyway, will drop by later when I'm resting after the gym! Have a great day.
