Surely there must be another thread on value petfood?

The crepe pans on offer at Aldi seem reasonably good quality - not cast iron, but not flimsy either. They would work well for making flatbreads, and save the hassle of using an oven. Less impressed with the pestle and mortar, as I've bought marble for the same price.

I tried the Aldi fresh custard (from the chiller cabinet). For me this is a rare buy because I wanted to make a dessert with it, and whilst it tasted ok for 85p it isn't anywhere as nice as the Sainsburys or M&S version.

Just recently started shopping at Aldi after many years of shopping at the Big 4 (mostly Asda but would shop around the others if an offer caught my eye) and it's taking some effort to get Hubby to switch.

He is very happy with the ground coffee at Aldi, the Italian and French blends. I think they're £1.69 a bag compared to his preferred TofH at £3 a bag, usually bought on 2 for £5 offer)

We haven't tried Lidl yet. Do most of you prefer one shop or the other or do you shop around at both?

Exactly the same here. Both are excellent, in terms of quality and price, and I'd be happy to shop at either. It's just that you do tend to get used to the layout of one or the other, and it's therefore quicker to get round whichever one it is you choose.

Either way, you'll pay around 25% more for much the same things at Tesco etc (35% more at Waitrose).
  • Just be aware of the NEED to check your receipts before you leave the shop - in EITHER Lidl or Aldi. ;)
They are very good at adding an item in my experience, perhaps down to the speed of the cashiers.
On almost every shop at either store, and certainly over the last year or so of above about £10, an extra item has been added to my bill:eek:
I now will not leave the shop until I have checked my receipt, it is so common.
All these "extra's" soon add up.:p

Butter - salted or unsalted "Greenvale" British 250g block - is currently 75p at Aldi!

No, me neither. The checkout staff are pretty skilled at scanning quickly and accurately.
