Good and Bad Buys from Aldi & Lidl *Do NOT Expire Please*

I think the point everyone else is making is "why single out Aldi /Lidl " ? checking your receipt ( wherever you shop ) is just common sense
There is a reason why to single out Aldi and Lidl - it's simply the speed at which the operatives are required to put the items through the till to maintain their wage level.
It's the speed that causes the mistakes - and no other supermarket requires its operatives to work at that speed to maintain their wage levels.
I'm a great fan of Aldi and Lidl - rarely shop anywhere else, and I appreciate the speed at which you can get in and out of the store - but it's one thing you need to take great care over in these two stores.0 -

One thing I can say is that the staff at both are super-efficient about refunding.
Dont mean to be rude but they want to refund you asap so you can be on your way and the staff can get back to what they were doing. It also helps if you go in politely and ask rather than go and be rude to the member of staff.0 -

But I think, at least in Aldi, there's some sort of alarm system on the till which alerts the cashier if they've over/under scanned as there's been times where I've had a cashier suddenly stop to check her monitor, and has then either said, that's ok it went through, or has called over a supervisor to rectify a double scan.
They certainly don't do it on purpose. I'm sure the staff would be penalised for such errors. As I sad before, I've never yet been overcharged for my shopping.0 -

Teapigs is a complete waste of money, as are many artisan goods. Super shoppers (C4) did a bit of myth-busting yesterday.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I also recommend Aldi's Peppermint and Liquorice teabags, very nice! Also their whole Espresso coffee beans, make lovely freshly-ground coffee at a reasonable price. One life - your life - live it!0

The price reductions were in Aldi.0 -
I haven't seen the Aldi British made quark mentioned yet, think it was 79p for 200g. Finally, UK farmers have mastered the knack of making quark. High in protein and low in fat, so good for anyone who follows a higher protein diet. It's lovely, prefer it to T*sco's. Which, ironically, was German-sourced the last time I bought it.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... We had Aldi's currant teacakes for breakfast this morning and personally I wasn't too keen. They were spiced and had a glazed top so they tasted more like hot cross buns.0
