I suppose those of us who shop in Waitrose wouldn't dream of giving it a silly name!;)

Disappointed that when I called into Lidl yesterday they had none of the smoked haddock or Piri Piri chicken in their offer.

Good point about Waitrose - none of your Waitbobs, Waitbos, Waitrose's or Waities there, thank God!

Re the smoked haddock, have you tried the Grimsby Traditional Smoked haddock that only Waitrose seem to sell nationally. Around £16 per kilo but naturally smoked, white rather than yellow, and a world away from any other kind of smoked haddock.

PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status, too, so it can come from one of only 7 local producers. Expensive, perhaps, but in a league of its own and the smoked fish equivalent of real Naples pizza as against Pizzaland's. :)

Well according to the neon sign outside my local Waitrose, it's changed it's name to Warose. :rotfl::rotfl:

Poor example. Napoli pizza does not actually taste that good (I'm not suggesting that Pizzaland's does btw...if it even exists any more).

Aldi's red grapes with the team GB logo are delicious.

  • My favourite Lidl week is Italian week, largely due to the fresh specials on offer. I love the fish with tomato and chilli butter and the meatballs. I also like the Greek week.
  • Just a few of my Aldi picks.
Sweet harvest tinned small potatoes in water (360gm drained) 15p.
Don't knock them until you've tried them...
Bramwell English mustard less than 40p and IMO as good as Colemans.
    Norpak spreadable lighter
Vacuum packed mussels garlic or white wine sauce £1.49
    Grandessa crunchy p nut butter.
Soupreme cream of tomato soup. Nicer than Heinz.
    Steaks...all...choose a nice one.
Tinned red salmon almost half the price of the big supermarkets.
The tins are the same with Alaska stamped on the bottom of the cans.
    Veg and Fruit
Chrysanthemums last at least for 3 weeks £2.
Magnum premium washing up liquid.Note fairy only refer to the 2nd highest selling liquid in their adverts.
Which mag agrees this stuff is the dogs.

Apologies if these have been posted before but I have no intention of ploughing thru old posts.

Aldi do a range of Italian sliced hams. The Rosemary and Truffle ones are fantastic. I just wish they came in bigger packs ! I think they're £1.65, usually 5 slices per pack, i don't look at the price, i just buy them every week !

I love the Soupreme soups too. I gave a tin of the tomato soup to a very picky eater last week, he said that he loved Heinz soup ! I think it's better too.
