So, they'll vote for someone who will give them what they want - that's democracy...0 -

If this is the model of brexit that our government pursues, then I think we will have found common ground for the majority of people in the UK. But there are going to be a lot of unhappy leave voters still.
And they are the majority and will eventually find a party that gives them what they want.....0 -
TBH I can't really see you, Rinoa, Conrad and Clapton voting for left wingers to punish the Tories for not being tougher on immigration.
If there's a pragmatic solution as described in the last few posts then I think quite a few remainers (if such a thing matters in 2020) will find that quite palatable and vote Tory too.
Things can change quickly in politics but, for now, the Tories own us.
Yes they truly own us with their massive majority :doh:0 -
And if we end up with some halfarsed coalition of rampant left wingers it won't be doing any of us any good either.
More likely, we will see a rise in UKIP voters....which will do us no good either.
There is no fudge to be had here. It will tear the Tories apart too. Remember the majority of the Tory party members are Eurosceptics.0 -

How many people from the UK take a holiday in Europe every year and how much do they spend. Very costly if there was to be a trade war. Yet the benefit to the UK of stayvacations would be enormous.
Indeed. Zimbabwe has led by example here. It is very costly for the citizens there to travel overseas so they don't. It is cheap for foreigners to holiday in Zimbabwe so they have a thriving tourist industry. I hope one day we can emulate their path but unfortunately there was bad news today, the Pound has crept upward in value again0 -

No - we're owned by this dudeAnd her attempts to discuss trade triggered an ill tempered outburst from president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, who claimed the British PM had no right to be seeking new deals while still an EU member.Such matters, said Mr Juncker, were an “exclusive matter” for Brussels officials and he said: “I don’t like the idea that member states of the EU, including those who are still a member state of the European Union, are negotiating free trade agreements.”
