Com Res did a Poll on how they would feel about a Remain victory on Thursday am. Following the murder of Jo Cox they asked the same questions in a second poll after 2.00pm

It would appear her death has put many voters off Leave.

Well we can dance around the issue or we can say what we think. I think there will be a status quo effect but the Jo Cox assassination will have an effect.

Cox was an ardent advocate of Remain, sympathetic to refugees and tolerant of different races and cultures. Whether the man in the dock was simply mad, he did target her for a reason and he held extreme nationalist views about the same sorts of issues that Leave have campaigned on (anti-immigration, freedom for Britain). Clearly he did not have the same views as the vast majority of Leave supporters, but I think there will be some who have second thoughts about voting for something that has the unwanted support of these extremist organisations. Of course they have been there all the time, but this assassination has brought that into our minds. His statements in the dock and at the scene will not help. Much will depend on what emerges in the next few days.

I find those trying to exploit this MP's murder to influence the EU vote totally repugnant, disgusting, vile and shallow.

You have no shame, no disgust and you are not a very nice person at all.

    Have some basic respect !

How do you know Chile hasn't negotiated good trade deals?

After 50+ years the EU still has no trade deal with the US, China and India. That's what happens when you aren't willing to compromise and have to satisfy the whims of 28 differing countries who all have a veto.

Bizarre. In the last 10 years my company has managed to businesses with all those nations

If you are referring to my last post, I was simply saying that I though her death may have an impact and why. I am exploiting nothing.

If you want to stifle debate fair enough. Do you think the tragedy will have an impact on the vote? My point was that people can be swayed by perceptions and that this might well sway some people.

Isn't it a shame that despite all the talk of a softening approach to the referendum and politics in general following these tragic events, there are still people out there who want to continue this negative campaign to denigrate people on the opposite side of the argument.

Obviously it wasn't a conspiracy but in terms of if you were looking for a way to change the result with a week to go and the polls against you this might well be what you would come up with.

I am not sure if there are people in the EU passionate about it enough to think the end would justify the means especially if they thought Brexit might lead to an EU breakup and a return to warring nation states in Europe.

Edit: i am not sure if this inappropriate topic for discussion, if people think so let me know and I will delete.
    I think....

    Survation (Daily Mail)

Fieldwork fully conducted after the death of Jo Cox

    Remain 45 (+3)
    Leave 42 (-3)

Betfair odds on Brexit have now dropped back to an implied probability of about 30%
