I notice no one's come back on my point about the EU not being the land of milk and honey for the most recent members of it. The EU is FAR from a socialist ideal, it's crony capitalism of finest vintage. Why lobby 28 individual governments when only one will do? Why pay workers in country A their "living wage" when workers from country B can flood into it at the absolute minimum wage, especially when the corporate environment in country A is more favourable than that of country B.

It's got sod all to do with workers rights, you've been bought cheaply with the "social charter" which gives paid holiday we already had, maternity leave we already had, anything in this EU social charter could easily be applied by the UK government but you seem to think the EU is doing it for you.

Oh dear, things is the labour party are now so toxic that you have to praise Major :
but it is realistic for you to recognise that Labour will never be able to pass any laws whilst the vile clique Corbyn/McDonnell/Abbott are leading the dysfunctional labour party and so place your socialist hopes on the EU28
I suppose you both share a common hatred of democracy and the British people : in your case I guess your racial prejudice against the English plays a significant part.

    Get a life sad troll:rotfl:

Even brown spotted that monetary union without fiscal union didn't make sense. Major via the erm was looking to bring us in to the Euro so either he didn't understand the economics or more likely wanted fiscal and monetary union and thus a united stares of Europe.

Benefit of hindsight though Michaels. Just think if an ex tory PM can say these things about two of his own parties leading lights......how can they possibly square such differences in future. Major wouldt have said these things without Camerons agreement!

Whatever the problems within the EU are the leading lights of Brexit are tory loons or UKIP bigots using immigration as a cover for their dog whistle politics, (Farage raising the issue of migrant sex attacks today). Do you therefore seriously think a Social Democratically minded person would put their future in the hands of such types.?

While I can tut tut with the best about personal insults, I liked Clegg's description of Boris as “Trump with a thesaurus”. (In link posted buy Moby)

I'm not aware of Michael Gove stating he will reduce immigration to 10,000 per year.

I was wrong: he actually said "the 10s of thousands".

He told Peston this morning that he would dramatically reduce the total immigration (from EU and Rest of the
World) from 100s to 10s of thousands. Of course he did not say when. But how realistic is this.

Times picked up on it on twitter.

This is of course net migration. Tens of thousands could be 99,999. As around 300,000 UK citizens emigrate each year, he only needs to keep gross immigration to less than 400,000 to meet his target.

Shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.

There are divisive figures in both campaigns. I don't understand why you think that a vote for Leave is a vote for Farage, Johnson or Gove. If that were the case then a Remain vote is as much an endorsement of George Osborne, Nick Clegg and Call me Dave not to mention JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, et al. Carry on lads, carry on ripping off the working people of Britain. :T

So no I don't buy into the argument that the people leading the campaigns or involved in the campaigns in any way have bearing on the way people should vote. It should be irrelevant to you and if it isn't you risk making the wrong decision based on party politics.

You make my point very well.

If the £/euro rate has fluctuated 35% with no loss of economic performance, why do you believe 4% average WTO tariffs after Brexit will be such a problem?

average WTO tariffs dont matter one bit what matters is the tariffs on what the UK exports. what are the tarriffs on the uk major exportS?

also its about future businesses deciding where to set up. Even if the tariff is just 4% why set up a car engine plant in the midlands and pay 4% to export to the EU when you can set up the plant in German/Poland/France and not pay the 4%

There may also be the potential/risk for multiple tariffs. eg engine parts made in Germany exported to the uk get a tarriff then they are assembled in the midlands and exported to France getting another tarriff.

There was no mention of net migration it was about the numbers of immigrants.
