If we vote for Brexit what happens

How do you envisage this consensus being arrived at in Parliament?
Do you think that those who favoured remain would unite with those in Leave who favour a Norwegian type deal?
Would you prefer Remaining to having a Norwegian type deal?
I guess future policy will be arrived at in the same way we have been using for the last 100 years or so.
I would hope that once decision to leave is decided by the voters, that the majority of the elected MPs will seek to agree a way forward.
I don't see 'remain' and 'Norwegian ' as being the only alternatives.
I prefer the USA, Aus, S Korean, N Z, Indian, Chinese, Malayan etc solution myself.
Basically I believe in the free trade in goods and services and see no need for our trading partners to decide on the UK level of VAT on thermal insulation goods or tampons or anything else nor do I wish them to decide our immigration policy etc etc.
However, I do see that as the majority of the MPs despise the UK electorate that they may sabotage the venture but that problem will have to be fought later.0 -
Your usual style of debate, rehash everything over and over making the same points. If you read back through the thread I'm sure you'll find posts covering this question.
Personally I don't recall that particular point being made previously but if it has already been adequately explored why did you repeat it?0 -

In the event of leave, Cameron and Ozza would immediately ditch all the downside negative narratives and would suddenly announce themselves as safe hands capable of getting a great deal for the British people.
Sort of sums up just how easily lead people are.0 -
I think we are having a referendum on the wrong thing entirely.
The UK has a very poor relationship with the EU and its true there is a massive democratic deficit. This isn't entirely the fault of the EU though. Its our own spineless politicians.
Whats created so much bad feeling is that the UK people have NEVER had any kind of vote on the terms of our membership of the EU. EVER. Every decision has been forced on us. This isnt the case with the majority of other EU members. The people of those countries get to shape the EU. Every treaty change or new member needs to be ratified by a referendum. They can and do force the EU to send stuff back.
Why cant we do that??? The answer is we could. Its 100% up to our current elected government to put that into law. But instead we get this cynical In/Out Bulls**t. We should stay in BUT have a referendum on every treaty change or new member like other EU countries do, In fact ANYTHING that requires ratification by parliament should be put to a vote.
Do you know why we dont have that? Its because they know they wouldnt get things done. Do you think Turkey would ever join the EU if the UK people had a say? What about the other Eastern European basket cases? Not a hope in hell.
Either way its entirely within the rights of the UK government to offer us this instead of the In/Out rubbish. You have to ask yourself why are we not doing this (and why have they not suggested it)? Pretty much proves beyond any doubt that the referendum is a cynical attempt by an overwhelmingly pro-EU establishment to once again shut the people up and carry on with EU ' business as usual'.0 -
Given how high EU unemployment is, critical in some states, who here thinks the EU would want to disrupt their trade with us and what would French and Spanish workers make of this?
Remember, if BMW's go up, people can buy Japanese cars instead and we would use such bargaining chips in getting a fair deal from the EU0 -
here's a slickly made video extolling the reasons we should vote remain: https://youtu.be/2O0SU-ucFl0
The remainers will love it.
So, who made it? The official remain campaign? The UK government? No, it was the Wilfred Martens Centre for European Studies, a think tank for the European Peoples Party based in Brussels and wholly funded by the EU - to the tune of 4.2euros in 2014 alone.
Expensive to both make and promote (it has 100,000 views already on You Tube) So the EU takes our money, gives it to organisations favourable to the EU cause, who then use it to tell UK citizens how we should vote in our own referendum.
Its the EU's interpretation of democracy. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
Brexit The Movie

Look at the perks the Eurocrats get - even subsidised private schooling and Viagra - no wonder this Priesthood wants to keep things just the way they are, all sucking heavily on the tax payer teat0 -
The free trade argument by Brexit supporters is, quite frankly, nonsensical.
Essentially the claim is that leaving the largest and richest free trade bloc on the planet will be good for trade... Sure.0 -

Funny how this shining light of free trade is an economic basket case though isn`t it?0
