If we vote for Brexit what happens

And yet more Brits still manage to emigrate outside the EU than in it.
Incidentally there are significantly more options in your Australia example, including parent visas., and many will already have residency or citizenship well before retirement.0 -
Not even the craziest kipper has suggested making retrospective changes, so expect the status quo then after exit newly emigrating EU citizens to go through a work permit process. As they should.
By the way more UK citizens manage to emigrate outside the EU than inside and people migrated without issue for years before free movement. We're quite capable of getting residency or work permits.
Please see my above comment, I am specifically interested in the details proposed for people wanting to retire on the continent in a few years. If they were a vote for you to appeal to right now, what would you say? Can you guarantee they will still be able to do so? How will you win their vote?0 -
Absolutely not, they may need a residency permit. Out of interest why should people from inside the EU be treated differently from those outside?0 -

If you have citizenship or residency long before retirement you're hardly retiring to Australia! !!!!!!.0 -
I know this is an alien concept for you, but if we leave the UK parliament will decide issues about movement of foreign people into and out of the UK.
As we have a democracy, the rules may change over time.
An answer to a different question - everyone understands what the process would be.
I'd like the leave campaign to give me an idea what they think might be good things for parliament to decide after this democratic process.
I don't see why people would vote to leave on this basis unless they really like surprises. It's a complete step into the dark.0 -

So the plan is that easy retirement to the continent will cease and may well become impossible in many cases. A firm answer, thank you.Out of interest why should people from inside the EU be treated differently from those outside?
Could you expand on this question, the answer seems obvious to me but perhaps I'm missing some subtle point. We signed agreements to create a free trade and free movement zone. That is why.0 -
I was asking more for future retirees than current ones (though those are a concern too). People who are a few years away from retirement who have plans to move to a warmer location in Europe probably want some firmer details on what the proposed outcome for that situation is. Is there anything firmer proposed around this situation from the leave camp?
the rules for immigrants moving to EU27 countries like France or Spain will be determined by the EU27.
How can you possibly expect the people of UK to to provide an answer to what the EU will do.
However, it would be extremely unlikely that any EU country would wish to reject well funded people from retiring to their countries.0 -

I'm not sure what exactly you are asking : I don't know who will be PM in July let alone what a parliament in 2020 might decide to do.0 -

What about people who aren't that well funded? They can find very cheap areas to retire to in the EU right now and live better lifestyles (for them).
So I'm asking about a situation that affects many potential voters and asking if the leave campaign have a specific plan to address this issue or if, as you and others have confirmed, there is no plan, except to leave.0 -
What % of emigrants are retirees? People retired to the continent, and beyond, long before the EU.If you have citizenship or residency long before retirement you're hardly retiring to Australia! !!!!!!.
If anyone in the leave campaign gives you a guarantee for people who haven't already gone, they're lying. It's up for negotiation. So the plan is that easy retirement to the continent will cease and may well become impossible in many cases. A firm answer, thank you.
Free trade and movement are two different things, most free trade zones don't have free movement. Incidentally the EU is a customs union, or effectively acts as a federal state, rather than a FTA.Could you expand on this question, the answer seems obvious to me but perhaps I'm missing some subtle point.
