My comment was of a more general nature. Than a specific one relating purely to the UK. The EU is not as one when it comes to open door policy for that matter.

    Top tip.

If you want to make a general point don't quote other posters before you make it.

I can see why some would construe your response as specifically blaming Merkel for Saturday's attack. Not your intention of course.

Your true colours are in the flag that you use as your avatar, and which we decided to leave. You, too, are free to leave if you don't like it here.

Absolutely, are you suggesting that because the UK has decided to leave, only British flags should be allowed? I will leave when I feel like it.

  • Oh dear, the doom-mongers will not like this:
The World Bank has upgraded its forecasts for UK growth over the next three years against a stronger global backdrop that will boost the British economy despite its weak start to the year.

the composite PMI, which adds together all three sectors, slowed from 57.6 in April to 56.7 in May. That level is still higher than at any point in the first quarter of the years and is firmly above the 50-level that indicates growth, meaning hopes of an economic rebound have not yet been dashed.

Yes there's a mix of positive and negative but the overall outlook remains positive.

Of course this will be because we are still in the eu, in spite of the fact we will be out within that 3 years.

If it had been negativery news it would have been because we are leaving the u.

The doom mongers cannot accept that we want to create our own destiny rather than having Germany dictate what we do, and that is the case thanks to Merkel Freudian slip, she obviously thanks it is Germany taking over the world. We are getting out just in time. You only have to look at the way Germany are treating Greece to question the ethics of the "eu".

I do like your clarity that we are leaving the Union (U) but not Europe(E). I had not seen it so succintly expressed before.

That is cracking new word too - negativery
I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.

On tab, spend too long trying to correct it, sometimes just give up. of course, it had the advantage that it made you read the post and comment on it, this cements it in your mind.

  • More news the doom-mongers will not like:
US movie and TV companies are switching production from America, Canada and Australia to here because the falling pound has cut costs by up to 20 per cent while European productions risk stalling because of fears over loss of EU funding, changes to tax credits and introduction of visas.
London was the third busiest city for making films after Los Angeles and New York last year with a record £1.35 billion inward investment into the UK. Two blockbusters out this week, Wonder Woman and The Mummy, were largely shot here and in surrounding areas.

You seem to believe doom mongers are out there and bringing up all these success stories is a good barometer.

Moving making being brought to the UK because of a falling currency (= UK now is cheap) works great when the country does not need to import a lot for daily life.

Yes, exports might be up, movies are coming here, but when shopping for everyday things at Asda, Tesco and co people feel the pinch cause prices are going up... and wages are stagnant.

I am looking forward to news about fruits and veggies being produced here so that prices will go down how or do you think we should all attend auditions to round up salary? Is that what gig economy is all about?

Sorry your powers are not so great. You cannot teach us something we already know. We are leaving the EU - whatever you type or mistype, my friend.

As to the three year timeline - you haven't convinced me it will be longer or less or exactly that. That is pure conjecture.

    You're talking out your wotsit.
I do the household shop (for the family btw, not just for myself) and I can tell you without doubt that my shopping bill hasn't increased, certainly not enough to be noticeable. Some stuff goes up in price, some comes down. When was it ever any different?
Oh and my wage rise this year was significantly above inflation, too - although I recognise that this will not be the case for everyone.
Apart from public sector workers though no-one I know is worse off yet through low wage increases or increased shopping costs, certainly.

I'm looking forward to the day when as a country we can buy our fruit & veg from where we want, perhaps improving the lot of other economies instead of buying from where we are told to by the EU with its protectionism and detrimental practices to other nations.
All you want to do is promulgate Project Fear.
Well I got news for you.
    It (still) isn't working.
    ;)
