Why are you asking how things will affect me personally? Uppermost in my mind is the good of the nation as a whole, not my petty little life.

Obviously if I was to take the self-interested line I might opt for status quo and Remain, but I'm not built that way.

As to capital at risk - well I have properties and pension and ISA's (1 current, some frozen). IMO Brexit will enable the UK to thrive better as we will benefit from full local autonomy and tailor made policy, as well as being far more nimble and able to exploit opportunity compared with being shackled to Brussels.
I'm self employed, so am as exposed to economic turbulence as the next man.

My eldest is 17 and soon to embark on the world of work so I'm very much attuned to national outcomes for the benefit of us all, not just my petty little existence.

You ask what opportunities I will be seizing - well just to carry on investing really, and IF I have the bottle open another business my kids might want to be in on - a healthy takeaway outlet for example (business commuters coming off train picking up healthy hot meals as opposed to kebab / Chinese / Pizza)

I mean, good on you for putting everyone else first but If you can't think of a single opportunity that Brexit will offer you what makes you so sure the opportunities for everyone else are so wondrous?

Oh indeed the drama has been ongoing ........... however I do note you failed to comment upon the more general EU report regarding EU emissions and prospective job losses as a result.
    Why is that?

Because I fear it's going to be a deja-vu of the pharma convo we had before :p

We were outperforming other EU economies (aka the Brexit Boom) solely by taking on ever increasing amounts of unsecured debt, while household savings were being whittled down to their lowest levels since records began. That's another FACT for you. ;)

That's been the case for many years. Nothing new in that.

Though becomes a circular argument. As much of the money is spent on importing cars, chemicals, agricultural produce from EU member states. Plus of course the money spent on tourism.

The world is an interconnected place. The principle of causation.

Of course they're looking to extend their interests in the UK, their goals is to make money.
The likes of Wipro, Infosys, etc were the first one to complain about revised visa rules in the UK for their employees and that is exactly what India is requesting as part of a Brexit-deal.

Both India and China have invested heavily in R&D over recent times.

They still recognize the excellent research facilities we have linked to our better universities though.

It's why the Chinese premier made a specific request to visit the graphene labs in Manchester, and why it's interesting to look at where the investment money is coming from for things like Cambridge research labs.

Poor old Corbyn doesn't understand where we should be investing in IMO. He wants to borrow to buy more bedpans.

Here's another fact for you. If elected, your mate Corbyn will borrow another £250,000,000,000. He told us so himself.

    How much will Tersea borrow?

With less than one week before the general election, the UK’s economic outlook remains robust – according to a report by Dun & Bradstreet.
Its UK Quarterly Industry Report has revealed that Eurostat’s Industrial Confidence Indicator stood at 9.1 in Q1 2017 – the highest level since Q2 2014.

If you do want facts which admittedly are (usually but not always) definitive you'll be waiting a while.
The official first quarters results aren't even confirmed yet.

You brought up this graphene before. How many jobs are linked to graphene?
If there's no Brexit deal, is graphene going to keep the UK afloat?

Good post, that, but your mention of 'the bottle' reminded me of your suggestion some time back about buying British wine. Well, I tried your recommendation for that champagne-style wine made in Kent (I've already forgotten the name, but can easily remember the bottle), and it is indeed of a noticeably fine quality. It's much smoother and more effervescent than the Proseccos. I'll be buying it again, despite its relatively high price.

Thanks very much for suggesting it.

Sorry to butt in OT everyone. As you were. :T :D
