Thanks goodness for that. I shall sleep easier tonight now.0 -
I think its appalling how prison officers have been treated. The number of assaults and serious incidents, prisoner suicides, drugs etc is directly linked to the slashing of staff numbers. I see prisoners who are subjected to 23 hour lock up because there are no staff to supervise them. Now they are trying to fix the prisons crisis they created by replacing the experienced staff with new young much lower paid entrants who are crammed into wholly inadequate OMU's.They privatised half of the Probation Service and guess what, no suprise the latest inspection reports describe a huge decline in performance. Enjoy your retirement you deserve it. Almost there myself!
Thankyou Moby.
We digress (again!) but I have made the decision recently to mitigate the very real risk to my mental and physical well being by opting to go part time as soon as possible. If that doesn't work then it's time to go.
Enjoy your retirement, I have a sense we both deserve it.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
SoftBank investing $500 million in UK tech firm, Improbable

More myth making from the Remoan camp, goes without saying. I said brass playing was ONE of the means access will be retained.
Your camp are going to look such utter wallies to thier Freinds and acquaintances when it turns out the UK did good. I do hope this irrational pessimism doesn't rub off on the children of Remoaners. Great seeing the Moneyweek editor on QT last night giving young people a good dose of common sense, in stark contrast to the doom brigade fools that think youngsters didn't travel Europe until the EU made it all possible, lol.0 -
I remember when we were kids, talking about early 70's, that all we needed for a quick day trip to France was to take a photo to the port, then they issued a day passport. No idea how much it was as I was not even a teenager.
Then they stopped doing that when we joined the common market.
Just seems a bit strange, always wondered why we suddenly had to have proper passports to go to France when we joined. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Investing? Do you mean this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36827769
The founder of ARM Holdings has told the BBC he believes its imminent sale to Japanese technology giant Softbank is "a sad day for technology in Britain... there will still be sadness in Cambridge, and beyond, that Britain's best hope of building a global technology giant now appears to have gone.".
Yes great I wonder what 'Champion of the People - Evil Edna, had to say about it.
"This is good news for British workers, it's good news for the British economy."
Yes because British workers love foreign takeovers, they love having their factories closed and jobs outsourced, and they love how much money the Tories and their corrupt cronies make out of asset stripping the UK's infrastructure to the lowest bidder. Sadly, most of them will do whatever the Daily Mail tell them to, so it's another Tory landslide on the way.

From your article;
The fall brought year on year growth in the sector down to 2.3 per cent
Overall industrial production, which accounts for around 15 per cent of the UK’s economic output, fell by 0.5 per cent over the month, but was still 1.4 per cent higher than 12 months ago.
