So those 1million extra people every 3yrs has no effect on the NHS?.

Since most of them are young and a lot of them work in the NHS - then probably not. The question is, why don't you expend as much energy ranting against the obese and the alcoholics who actually are destroying the NHS as you do against foreigners? Ask yourself that.
Yes you are right it is but wrong in that its only over the last decade. Did the last Labour Govt, previous Tory lib-dem govt or the current Tory Govt address the shortage of housing? No they didn't so what is the likelyhood of a mass housebuilding programme happening anytime soon ?. In which case why would you compound the problem by having an open door policy on immigration?.

The "housing crisis" here in London has had many positive effects. All property is now prized - we have whole areas re-gentrified - vast tracks of dock areas revitalized into fantastic living space. I can't speak about the rest of the country so much, but whenever I visit northern cities, that looked like dumps in the 80s, they look very affluent these days.

I'm also aware that many EU immigrants have helped us achieve this.

    I am grateful.

All these people have come to the UK and helped us make our country even greater.

EU immigrants were educated and invested in by other EU countries. And how do we thank those other EU countries? By restricting their citizens from sending money home in child benefit.

EU companies have invested billions in the UK allowing the UK to run a massive current account deficit. What have we done to deserve such largesse? We are a stupidly spoilt bunch of wingers frankly.

You have to wonder why the other EU countries put up with us tbh(which is exactly how I feel as an English person about the moaning Scots).

Some say all immigration is bad, some say all immigration is good.

The reality lies somewhere in between.

We need to identify and encourage those that can benefit the UK and stop those who come for a free ride.

The only chance of this happening is if we leave the EU.

Actually they were offered a choice between FPTP and a slightly modified constituency system (which was the option proposed for the LibDems own party political reasons), it didn't in anyway represent PR, for which the campaign on both sides was dismal and the turnout terrible.

I just find it odd that many of those who like to talk about the EU democratic deficit have strongly campaigned against any change to the current system as well, either in terms of voting rights or replacing the House of Lords with an elected body.

So let's understand this. When the country overwhelmingly votes (or abstains) in favour of keeping the current electoral system you just dismiss that as a rubbish question and dismal campaign.

And your idea for improving democracy is therefore to ignore the will of the people and impose an alternative system that *you* believe is better. Sounds a little perverse.

indications are that brexit could jeopardise the uk’s status as one of the world’s top investment destinations.

We're the Worlds top investment destination for a reason, and it's not because we're in the EU.

If just being in the EU qualified for investment it would be shared around the other 27 countries.

    It isn't.

Some businesses will obviously benefit from EU membership and some won't but EU wide business is a small part of peoples lives of the majority of British people.

What about the "Quality of life" for the general public as a whole?.

My quality of life is much better when unemployment is low in the rest of the country.

What pressure on schools, NHS and housing???? We've never had it so good.

I'm not hysterical at all and I have seen the pressures on the NHS,schools and housing first hand. Now its difficult to measure how much of that pressure on the NHS is down to mass immigration but I would use "Wotsthats" sniff test which is 1 million extra people every 3 yrs without a huge increase in funding (which we haven't had) would create more pressure. Common sense?.

If you are in a sinking boat then you plug that leak before inviting more people onboard.Common sense?

Purely anectdotal but a couple of weeks ago my elderly mother fell over and it took repeated calls to the ambulance service and it took 1.5hrs for an ambulance to turn up.

The EU is about the free movement of goods, services, capital and labour. We are happy to accept vast amounts of inward FDI from Europe - the capital - and we should accept that labour should be able to move with those flows of capital. People should be able to follow the money.
You prove to me that all of that all FDI from Europe and the wider world will cease the day after if we voted to leave.
I'm really worried about what is going to happen when European FDI dries up - we have a massive current account deficit that is only sustainable with large amounts of FDI.
I agree we do have a massive deficit but again I will ask why would the UK teather itself to an un reformed EU which is a political experiment in which the political elite will never admit to getting it wrong especially with the accession of the Eastern European Countries in 2003 which will eventually be seen as a catastrophe.

Of coarse some of the big businesses want the UK stay in but many businesses are happy to leave .Worth remembering that a few years ago the CBI and plenty of big businesses said it would be catastrophic if the UK didn't join the Euro. They couldn't have been more wrong could they.

Mervin King was on Andrew Marr this morning and said the EUproject is a battle between a political elite and common economics and he is correct.

I would also say when you vote to stay in the EU you are not voting to keep it as it is now. You are voting for increased integration, further expansion with another 7 countries to join and Turkey within 10yrs.

Name me a single wealthy country who intend to join?.

Also worth remembering that for every new country that joins the UK's voting rights diminish so we will struggle even further to make alliances within the EU.

I would guess you don't live in one room of a shared flat with little prospect of buying a modest family house in London.

Low unemployment is unrelated to immigration but low wages are.

I don't think it is that clear cut. I have friends and family who live on council estates. Some say that they like the working spirit and determination to get on at school that the Eastern Europeans bring. However others acknowledge that there is a fine balance. If, all of a sudden, half the children in a child's class do not have English as their first language, then that will impact negatively on their child's education.

Funny how London has so many kids from all over the world and yet we have some of the best performing state schools in the country?

Most kids from other EU countries have great English in my experience so fear not.

only a fantasist could seriously suggest there is no housing problem in London/SE or that the NHS has no problems

So let's blame it all on immigrants?

Your 'solution' is to 'worry' about the future but to do nothing.

I'm not worried about the future? I want to Remain - Britain has a great future - in the EU.

    Life is Good.

I want to keep it that way.
