If we vote for Brexit what happens

Correct me if I am wrong, but I had understood one of the main reasons people voted to 'Leave' was because they wanted parliament - an elected body - to exercise sovereignty and make decisions for the country.Parliament already approved having referendum. Govt leaflet said govt would implement whatever public wanted. Why change of tone now?
3 judges (one being very pro-EU) is overriding wish of 17 million people.
There is a good reason for public anger.
Quite why you would now like these decisions be taken behind closed doors by unelected ministers using royal prerogative to overturn an Act of parliament, rather than by your elected representatives in parliament, is completely beyond me.
If you believe in democracy surely you should be more than happy for parliament to take decisions and scrutinise the government, taking into account the result of the referendum?
I think this article sums it up perfectly:
A man who voted for the sovereignty of Parliament is utterly outraged by Parliament wanting to vote on stuff this afternoon.
Simon Williams, whose primary motivation for voting to leave the European Union was to establish the primacy of Parliament over external influence, is hopping mad that Parliament actually would like a say in the process of that departure.
A ruling that both the Houses of Commons and Lords will get a vote on the terms of departure from the EU resulted in Simon’s face turning purple and a succession of intemperate rants in capital letters on several popular Internet sites.
“I voted for Parliament to be able to act unhindered by people telling them what to do, and make decisions that they think will benefit the people of this country,” he told us.
“So why the stuff aren’t they doing what I tell them and making decisions I agree with?
“If they put a foot out of line, well, those elected representatives in Westminster don’t understand democracy, that’s for sure.”
When told of Mr Williams’ anger, a Parliamentary spokesman said that if he didn’t like the decisions his elected representatives were making, he should be reminded that they were in the majority and if he couldn’t accept that then he probably doesn’t understand democracy.0 -
I'm organising a festival of irony. Would you mind being the keynote speaker?
indeed so
I would happily speak on
- how a protectionist group of 28 european countries, who have done huge damage to the economies and stability of developing countries, delight in describing themselves as in favour of free trade
- how people of white, christian, european countries describing trading equally with all the peoples of the world as 'xenophobic.
I'm sure I could add more if you feel that would help your 'festival' : I assume it will have limited entry to only male white people with the 'right ' attitudes (sort of one of us type of people)0 -
Its funny how Clapton has tried to reinvent himself away from being an angry UKIP voter into being a social justice warrior.
Maybe someone hacked his account. Perhaps its Julian Assange.0 -
Leave voting Tory MP resigns over May's despotic attitude to cutting Parliament out of Brexit vote.

Oh dear, its not going well for mini Thatcher is it? Apparently repeating Brexit means Brexit over and over again like a robot and trying to ignore the law isn't working that well for her.0 -
Well yeah, sovereignty of the UK parliament over the EU one; the primacy of UK law over EU law.
Personally I'm not upset by the verdict, and I think it makes sense, but I do think it was brought up to frustrate the process and I can understand why people are annoyed by it and feel cheated. A lot of people voted leave because they feel disenfranchised and that they're not listened to by the 'elites'. They voted the way they did and a City fund manager has put the brakes on the process by starting a legal challenge that was upheld by 'establishment'. I think the Mail's front page today is despicable though.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
I think people just have to be a little patient rather than crying "Brexitears" at each twist and turn along the way.
I am sure parliament will ultimately act in accordance with the referendum. That is the official policy of both the Conservatives and Labour.
Leaving the EU is one of the most significant decisions that has been taken in a long time. It isn't a matter of just flicking a switch.
It will take 2 years at the very least. An awful lot of laws which originally stemmed from the EU are going to need to be re-enacted or replaced.0 -

Leave keep going on about democracy but the only political party who campaigned on hard brexit were UKIP, with one MP, assuming he hasn't been beaten to death by his own colleagues in a constituency meeting somewhere by now.
As a Remainer I accept that we will be leaving the European Union but that doesn't mean Leave, who have a very narrow majority, get to dictate every single term of that process.0 -

Yes, as a middle class, middle aged, white christian male, you fit the entry requirements perfectly so when you explain your thoughts to other middle class, middle aged white christian males the irony meter should be off the scale from the start.
I've also booked Conrad to do a talk about how to keep personal inflation rates down by swapping cheap stuff for Welsh black butter, British craft beer and locally sourced dog sunglasses.
He's also popping into M&S to pick up a few sandwich platters in case we get peckish as we march on parliament.0 -
Tory majority looking to being slashed to just 8.
May could very well lose a Brexit vote in Parliament which would force a GE. Except her own party are now leaning on her to just call a GE now.
Which the Tories could very well lose. That would leave a Lab, Lib Dem, SNP hung parliament which would mean by next Spring JEREMY CORBYN COULD BE PRIME MINISTER

OMG its just too funny. To say the Tories keep sabotaging themselves over Europe doesn't even cover it.
OMG, the Brexiteer reaction. Vote Leave, win, get Jeremy Corbyn.
Ahahahahahahaha haaa haa ahahahah!
