MPs to vote on Brexit...so no brexit & riots in the streets?

    Why would there be riots?
I thought voting leave was all about giving back sovereignty to parliament? :)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

    could be interesting....

How to make your country lose confidence in democracy in one swoop

Even if this works out in either sides favour, surely this makes a mockery of what was offered to the people?

It's not even certain there will be a vote. The government can and probably will appeal.

I can't see parliament voting against Brexit, especially given as the vast majority of Tory and Labour MPs constituencies voted Leave.

It will massively slow things down however, and I think it will massively undermine our position in terms of negotiations if we end up putting our cards on the table prior to opening the negotiations with the EU.

Depending on how the probable appeal goes of course.

In the real world racists obviously voted leave. On the internet a non-racist leave voter (for reasons unknown) seem at pains to point out anyone who voted remain is a racist.

Maybe they've spent so long making assumptions about people based simply on the company they keep it's put themselves in an uncomfortable position knowing some of their own fellow travellers are pretty vile.

I wouldn't take it to heart.

True. I was livid yesterday but I'm over it now and I won't see their posts anymore so my blood pressure should be fine.

just realized biggest lie of the leave campaign..
During the campaign, Prime Minister David Cameron said he would go to Brussels immediately after the referendum to trigger Article 50.
that was part of the deal and no one from the leave campaign objected. sore looses

I think you'll find Cameron was campaigning for Remain.

The government lost the argument. Hopefully they won't slow things by appealing.

It's time to get on with it.

Based on today's judgement he didn't have the power to do that anyway.

The rules are we have to ignore lies if the person/ group saying them didn't have the power to implement them.
