The EU are currently negotiating with Switzerland over EU immigration controls following a Swiss referendum.

EU leaders are trying to do a deal but at the same time trying to make out Brexit is somehow different, and if they give Switzerland concessions it won't mean the UK will be offered the same deal.

Very entertaining watching Merkel & Co squirm. :rotfl:

It would be interesting to see them set a judicial precedent with Switzerland that they then arbitrarily deny the UK from having. I doubt that would go down well with the courts or the UK government, and perhaps internally within the EU too.

I suspect whatever they give to Switzerland they'll be giving to the UK too, despite any posturing and protestations they might make to the journalists.

is that the same as people like you, who voted NOT to trade with black africa or allow immigration on the same basis as white christian european countries?

It seems as though at least two posters have gone down the 'Being in the EU is racist' road. If only you both realised that Africa isn't in Europe and indeed has its own union - the AU. To the best of my knowledge Spain aren't in the AU. Those blasted Africans don't want white men in their club.

We do trade with African countries, by the way. We just aren't in a union with them. Much of Africa, certainly around the horn, has a very close relationship with China and may well not be too bothered about us.

As you ought to know, but obviously don't, Spain does not make its own laws but must obey the EU: so Spain could NOT join the AU as it would be illegal under EU law.

Your uneducated racist views about Africans are unwelcome.

The refusal of the EU, to trade with Africa on the same terms as the white christian countries of europe, is clearly discriminatory as its having discriminatory rules about immigration. Under no circumstances could cyrpus be called 'europe' except that part of it is white christian and culturally 'european'.

You totally fail to understand the meaning of the word 'discriminate'

The EU has done enormous harm to the people of african countries by levying high tariffs on their agricultural products: Trade bring wealth which tends to bring peace, many of our African migration problems have been caused by the xenophobic EU policies

How dare you describe me as racist. Nothing in my post (or my life) could possibly be described so. I ask you to point out the racist part or issue a full apology.

That was clearly tongue in cheek as well you know. I'd assumed that you were an adult but perhaps you're not so I apologise unreservedly if you're still at junior school.

in the context of a discussion about how the EU has done a great deal of harm to the people of africa for the last 40 years
    and continues to discriminate today

I guess some-one of your awesome ignorance might find that 'funny'

but as I accept you are both ignorant and in denial I guess 'accidental' racist are not as bad as the 'real ones (although no defence in UK law)

The last two companies that I've worked for did most of their business in Africa so I know a fair amount on the subject. I've also travelled a little in the continent. I probably know more about the continent than you.

Don't bother replying to me as you're about to go on my ignore list.
