If we vote for Brexit what happens

Duh. Of course tory voters vote tory. They won the election because of the number of floating voters that voted tory. It's beyond question that lots of them voted Tory because they wanted a referendum on the EU. 17.5 million people voted to leave the EU. Do you really think none of them voted Tory in order to get that vote? Seriously? You do get that the Tories won by a very narrow margin yeah?
So no, not poppycock, actually a sensible point you've failed to understand.
You have a point and many will have gone from UKIP to Tory because of the promise of the vote but at the same time there will have been many Tory voters who didn't want a referendum. They voted Tory despite of it. In my mind that doesn't in any way make it a vote to leave the EU.0 -

You have to think though that wheras a floater might well have voted Tory if they wanted a referendum, very few Tories voted elsewhere because they didn't.
for these reasons:
Firstly, those would have been pretty confident we'd vote remain if it did come to a referendum. Most people were.
Secondly, who else would they have voted for? Obviously not UKIP. Apparently not the Libs since almost nobody voted for them. I don't reckon hardly any Tories would have felt strongly enough on that topic to vote Labour (and the results bear this out)! And even less to vote Green.
I'm pretty sure that the promise of a referendum was what got them across the line. Just from anecdotal experience I knew a lot of people who hadn't voted Tory before who did this time because of that.0 -
We are a net importer of goods, and a net exporter of services. WTO rules are pretty reasonable for goods, and do relatively little for services. A weaker currency is bad for imports and good for exports.
So, the question I've been asking before and since the British people decided by majority to leave the EU remains the same. What, economically, do we intend to get out of Brexit?
And the reason the question does need to be asked now is that Article 50 is a one-shot attempt at getting a deal without unanimity within the EU. It is possible to do a deal with the EU under qualified majority - which Article 50 offers. But as evidenced by this, it's nigh-on impossible to do a trade deal if every single one has to agree.
(Note, the question is not "is Brexit an economically good thing?" because despite the right answer seeming obvious to me, others will disagree and in any case it's an irrelevant question now that the vote has been held)0 -
Why don't you go live in Poland then? Where you can enjoy the tolerance & zero racism that Eastern Europe is so famous for.
You are probably right about Poland, but are you really proud to be British when the wife of a British national who has lived in the UK for over 20 years is treated in this manner?
It was not just the audience in that ignorant backwater of the UK that behaved in this way, the awful UKIP panellist continually heckled anyone who expressed any affinity with immigrants.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Rubbish.
Say stupid things, expect a reaction.
Would have thought some on here would have been used to that by now.
She said stupid things, and got a reaction. The things she said were inflammatory towards leave voters it wouldn't surprise me if she was a plant the things she said were so stupid. Claiming 17m people want her out of the country.0 -

She was booed rightly or wrongly.
The negative reaction was to her statement that she cannot recall a time when she has felt less welcome in the UK than now. She explained that she had lived here for 23 years and was married to a British person yet she still gets negative comments.
Defend it if you must but I am disgusted with those that take that view.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
As I understand it, services are our biggest industry so that's a very valid question.
My impression is that many of those who voted to leave didn't take this into account. They either wanted fewer immigrants, less EU laws or more money for the NHS (for example). Any bi-product of leaving would have simply been seen as unfortunate.
I'm certainly not suggesting that all Brexiteers thought like this. Many would have thought long and hard about the ramifications but I'm certain that there would have been sufficient numbers voting on one issue to have made the difference.0 -
I mean that making uncomplementary generalisation about a race is RACIST
your comment
it is of course likely that you are too stupid to recognise that.
Since when has the UK population been a race?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

She didn't say anything stupid. She explained how she was feeling. That she felt unwanted since the vote, a feeling which was immediately confirmed by a bunch of pig ignorant tiny minded bigots shouting at her.
Any insult was in your head. Much like the threat from immigrants only exists in Brexitards heads.
Brexit is a response to a problem that primarily exists in the imaginations of morons.0 -

Are you equally disgusted with people taking a similar stance against these too?0
