Actually it was a British initiative to introduce that.
But the biggest issues will still require a unanimous vote.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

You guys are right, if Spain blocks Scotland's entry/ continuing the UK's membership, it would be better if they joined the other small skiing nations in that briar batch EFTA. I know it'd be a bit of a Crackerjack pencil, but the top prize of EU membership might just be too hot to handle. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

It's upsetting how dysfunctional the EU is in these matters. Wallonia with a population of 3.6m managed to put an end to a 7 year deal that would benefit 550m people.
But this is perhaps a glimpse of what awaits Teresa May when she tries to find the "best deal possible" and then Wallonia comes out and say "no". Since the EU puts democracy above the benefit of its trade agreements, it is very possible that the UK will end up striking no deal at all.
It's not over yet, I'm sure they'll rescue it in the end
But 7 years negotiating the deal so far!
I expect I'll be long gone before the UK sorts out deals with the EUChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

Couldn't agree more. I was reasonably pro-Brexit before the vote. Since the vote I am extremely pro-Brexit. I can't fathom the mindset of people who still think we should belong. The EU act like an abusive partner, paying lip-service to how it'll be together if the UK stays around then reacting with rage, aggression & threats when the UK decides otherwise.
On a slight tangent, one point the Remainers might want to consider before endlessly asking for another vote (& lets not kid ourselves a lot of them are still hoping for that): We've already had two votes. Effectively the Conservative victory in the GE was a vote for Brexit or at the very least, a vote for a vote on Brexit. I would say that with hindsight it's unarguable that it was their offer of a referendum that got them over the line. People voted to put them in power, in large part to get a referendum, then voted again to leave the EU.
At some point the Remain camp need to start re-assessing the EU for the mess that it is.
Or perhaps just ask themselves a simple question: Exactly how many countries with large & prosperous economies are clamouring to join it?0 -

Odd question?
Exactly how many countries with large & prosperous economies are there left in Europe that aren't already tied to the EU?Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

What could better demonstrate the UK's lack of control while a member of the EU than the fact its ability to trade freely with Canada is subject to the approval of a small sect of Belgians?0 -
Clearly there is a message here that if an open, modern, business friendly country like Canada cannot strike a deal with the EU, no other countries can. It's taken seven years of negotiations between the EU and Canada to come to naught so why would other countries even bother to try. And I include the UK in that.0

Poppycock.
Not all Tory voters wanted Brexit but can you really see them not voting for their party at a general election?
I should point out that I voted remain but am not asking for a second vote. We voted out and so we must leave. The only question is what sort of deal we'll get out of it. I know many remainers and only one of them wants a revote. Most are just concerned about what trade deals (if any) we get out of it.0 -
