In that case, we already have all the paperwork.
1. What sort of questions do I need to be prepared for?
2. I'm getting gifted deposit from family which is currently sat in their accounts, so to avoid problems later, does this need to be transferred to my bank account before the full mortgage application?
TBH the Halifax man didn't really ask any questions which I couldn't evidence with a piece of paperwork. He asked questions like do you have any savings? I answered yes and gave him a copy of our savings account statement. He asked about what we thought we could afford to pay each month and what surplus income we have monthly so I gave him a copy of our budget plans and a pie chart of our outgoings and surplus ratio (maybe a bit extreme) he also asked us about our buy to let properties and our overseas property and I gave him all of their mortgage statements and the mortgage deeds for the overseas property (translated for his benefit)
You can access the intermediaries forms online if you google the word intermediaries and the bank name and ours was spot on with the amount they would lend us.House renovation savings £25,000/£25,000
Emergency fund £1000

Hello! Thank you for your reply bambos.
UPDATE:-
Went to halifax appointment. All went fine and we've been given official mortgage offer & paid survey fees today.
However I do have a slight problem. The MA asked how much mortgage do we need. We said £90k as the rest is either equity + savings + gifted deposit. The problem is we had assumed that we could pay all legal and other fees using the £2K cash we had saved up at home (originally it was to buy a new car!). So the problem and worry we have is that the offer is now there based on the information we gave, but only found out afterwards that the bank won't accept this and would want it using a credit/debit card.
Our worry is that if we now go and suddenly put in £2k into our account without an audit trail they may start asking questions.....what do you suggest?

Congratulations! Pleased the meeting went well.
My understanding is they're only going to query a contribution toward a deposit which is a loan, cash deposited for fees I'm sure won't be too strange - just open a savings account in future! Unless it's some kind of co-ownership arrangement I think you'll be fine without having to account for it.0 -
Thanks BelfastFTB. I'm just very anxious as I don't want anything to muck up at this stage or further down the line over a £2k amount.0

I posted on this thread a while back...
We finally moved in last week
First delivery was a gift pack from Halifax:
-Some picture fixings
-a box of crisps
-half a bottle of wine
-some pesto
-and a little box of screwdrivers and allan keys
Obviously Halifax is all about it's ethos 'giving you extra' but I hope they send more free stuff given how much interest I will be paying them
