Half way through my month & I've spend slightly over half my budget. Need to be a bit more careful as I've got less in the freezer/cupboards than I did at the beginning of the month.0

Hi
Lots of NSD's for me, fortunately, as I had a big Mr T delivery which came to £80.99. I must really sit down and go through my cupboards though and menu plan. I am off sick for the next week so that's my plan of action. Cook books to the ready for inspiration.

New total = £110!
£15 left if I want to stick to my budget.
In about an hour I'll be popping to the bakers for a loaf of bread. £2.50.
Day 16 of 31.
New total £113.
£12 left to stick to budget. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Two NSDs done, hoping for another today. Curry for last night went down well and enough to freeze to take with us when we go away is a bonus. I blended the onion before softening, it made it take loads longer to cook through for some reason but DS didn't detect it and I added some desiccated coconut to "hide" it just in case0

Hello
I am really pleased about how my inaugural challenge is going.
OH commented that unlike previous months where we would do another Oc@do order at the end of the month before pay day, on our credit card, which we would immediately pay off. This month I have avoided this.
I am menu planning in detail, we have just about emptied our freezer and store cupboard so will have very little to full back on in next months challenge.
I like the idea of the stock cupboard budget being separate to the grocery budget. I agree its great to be able to take advantage on items such as loo roll, washing powder, tined tomatoes when on offer. But now I am sticking to my menu plan, I am trying to avoid, buying things because we always have them in the cupboard. Because I know they could sit there for weeks if not months.
It also means I am being more adventurous with meals i.e. looking for more frugal options.
We have always kept a separate budget for eating out, and although we have cut down drastically when we do go out, I think we need to focus on this next.
However, all in all, a good month so far.As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

Just updated my spends for the month. I did a top-up shop in the c*-*p on sunday as we needed formula milk, milk, crumpets and a few other bits.
Yesterday I did a meat for the freezer top up, spent £32.50 but won the raffle so have got a voucher for £30 for next time I shop. Today picked up a couple of loaves of bread £1.
Total spend £246.64 so have got £53.36 left, I'm planning on doing my last main shop of the month tomorrow and will need some more formula at the weekend so will have to leave some money for that.Grocery Challenge 2024

Well, popped into T's spent £15.75 on essentials ie eggs, veg, cheese, fish. No YSs bit early.
That leaves £34.25 until the 31/3. Defiantly doable, a bit of fesh veg at the weekends and then freezer contents should see us through.
Happy days!SCP # 034
