£51.56/£250, next full shop tomorrow and another 3 in this month so could be pretty tight.
Actually DH bought some reduced cheese so need to add that once he gives me the receipt.
ETA the food at work should last the rest of the month not just the day as I seemed to imply
the full shop cost £41.21 from aldi and I then did a shop at tesco as I had a £4 off £30 spend voucher, stocked up on a few things I can't get in aldi and spent £28.17 so total spend £120.94/£250.It's not looking good for getting under target0 -
spend of £7.05 in Mr T for me yesterday but got loads of bits in so alls good ... did forget a couple of bits but im going to see if I can manage without them

I did a traipse shop on Saturday... something to do while my head is occupied about things I am worried about. Takes longer to do, of course, but you get better deals if you go to the best places for each deal, and it's exercise.
So, I went to a local hardware shop for some new Henry Hoover bags - £1.15
Heron Foods was doing 4 x tins of chopped tomatoes for £1. Also bought 2 bags of Minions Haribo for £1, treat for OH and nephew. Only get 1 of those in the 99p shop!
I had a card cashback offer for Waitrose of 5%, but was not terribly inspired so just bought bananas (which are the same price as anywhere else) and some YS rocket, spinach and watercress salad, double bag for 35p. Total spend 91p
The rest of the spend was in Aldi. Didn't have a pound for the trolley, so had to be ruthlessly efficient with what I picked up.
6 x cat food 1 x complete dry
1 x baked beans
1 bleach
1 squash
2pt milk
washing powder 2 in 1
1 x shampoo and conditioner (was tempted to buy their version of Aussie, but went for coconut as it's actually pretty good and only 1/3 price)
cling film & tin foil
their version weetabix
2 x sardines
1 400g ham trimmings
cotton pads and toothpaste
onions, salad tomatoes, pears, leeks, asparagus
So, a lot of non-food in there which would normally bump the bill up, so I'm pleased to have only spent £18.75 Total grocery spend of £22.81 :money:
Well, would be good, but still need yet more spread, milk and bread this week... :doh:Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, spent so far £45.95, remaining £104.05.0 -
It's a huge eye opener isn't it. All you can do is try to waste as little as possible now.
If only it was that easy to change old habits...but I am sure this challenge will help me
Bought some own brand sweeteners for £1.50 - need two tablets to achieve the same sweetness as Canderel, so it's not cheaper afterall. False economy.
Have £3 left, that will be for bananas, eggs and cucumber. I've noticed that being on a diet helps with budgeting as I can't consume more than a set amount of calories!0 -

Lots of trial and error involved... I think to myself, ah well, it's a good job I like coffee cake. Something to use up the own brand instant coffee that OH rejected. Was very popular at Macmillan coffee morning anyway.:)Keep reading books!

Another £8.00 at Aldi yesterday on washing liquid, washing up liquid, their super 6 offers, and fish.
Five birthdays coming up over the next fortnight though and we're going out to eat for three of them which will take a big chunk out of the remaining housekeeping. hoping OH will pay for two of them thoughwhich should help!
