I can sense the shaking of heads already lol.
No head shaking here. I fully appreciate that being asked how long you have held the account you want to switch can be a bit harrowing. You can easily overcome it by saying "oh, I can't remember, I have had the account for some time", or "only a couple of months but the xyz CS is so awful, I want to change to your bank because my friend/colleague/auntie told me yours is so much better". I normally use the former as I genuinely can't remember from the top of my head when I opened which account - not surprising when you have 30+ current accounts. I think that if they ask you for how long you have held the account to be switched, it's just for statistical purposes.

I don't believe any bank would want to, or would in fact be allowed to, turn your switch request down - once they have accepted you for a current account, they'll be delighted to shut down one or more accounts you hold with another bank.

I received an email from M&S saying my application was successful and the paperwork is in the post. No mention of a telephone interview.

    you should be so lucky:)
they told the wife that, over the phone, 3 months ago, they never arrived, hence, my recent joint application, which has been granted, and awaiting paperwork.
having second thoughts about switching my hfax reward though, losing £5 pm.
wife's got all the spare donor a/cs.
Don't know whether to open another donor in my name so soon to switch?
seems M/s don't hurry the switch along.
    seems tad cheeky.
    problems, problems.:rotfl:
  • Hi my switch is about to complete on the 19th on average when does the £100 gift card come right at the very end near the 30days? also does anyone know for sure that as soon as the gift card arrives I start my next switch using the m&s account is their no way they will cancel the gift card

    It will be fine.
Just had letters to sign, done it and returned.
    So good so far!
Strange it was addressed only to me, as it,s a joint a/c.
    Both signed anyway.

Presuming you have got the new offer, you will lose the £10pm on the card! Or did you apply for the old £100 only one?

Had an e-mail from M&S to phone them! so waiting for the grilling before they open the account instead of which charming chatty lady- something missing from application- which now seems to be complete!
Well I assume so since she said "welcome aboard," and proceeded to ask if I would like a CC.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I've had 2 of the 'please call us' emails since I applied. Both times for missing information. Still, got the 'welcome aboard' mail today, so hopefully on the home stretch if the documents don't take too long to arrive. Gives me time to get the donor account fully set up with DDs so not really complaining, but this one does seem to be second only to HSBC in terms of inefficiency...
