    There is no 12 months tie-in.

    They simply put an additional £10 on your card for any of the next 12 months in which you meet the conditions for the £10. These are easy enough to meet and it seems a shame to turn down what is effectively £120 free money.

    hence the word" incentive" I used ; I doubt anyone taking this new one out, is not going to stay the 12 months. for the extra £120 ?
    lets call it an incentive tie in, like the £5 pm I lose when I switch my Hfax reward to it so technically, I'm gaining an extra £5 pm..you cannot have it without staying, like an open prison;; to deter re-switching straight away, like the OP wants to.He/she doesn't have the incentive to stay:-), so I don't blame him/her. It's all a numbers game between the banks.

    I got an acceptance email a couple of days ago and the paperwork came through yesterday but I haven't decided whether or not to sign it.
  • Unfortunately, this only applies if you use the switching process, which closes the old bank account. For other investment reasons I would prefer to keep the old bank account.

    M&S bank welcome e-mail received today. Think that's 10 days from on line application so not bad (especially as I had omitted/ filled in some thing incorrectly!) Now await the paper work via the post to sign , seal and return . Then I can think about a switch!!! from a derelict but recently resurrected account.......

    they have delayed mine by sending me the wrong forms, single instead of joint.
    got them , signed, and returned yesterday.
    They phoned to appologise;which is something.:o
    loads of bumff;
    then the switch, hopefully by the weekend, by phone only ??
    Probably more inquisitive questions, especially being a joint a/c.so both will have to be there.
    wish I'd made it sole now.:)
    it's OH which will use the voucher.;)

    Bit pointless applying if you're not planning to sign.

    Can you explain more?
    Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • I got my acceptance emailed on 9th January, and the pack within days. Signed and returned the relevant pages and card/PIN arrived yesterday. Rang to activate and started switch process. Welcome Pack arrived today. Switch date is 5th February.
