  • I ordered a couple of the soap and glory poptastic sets yesterday, got confirmation and then a few hours later both were cancelled, with around a two hour gap between the cancellations. Really, really disappointed as had been trying to get it for ages and to think it was all confirmed then they just cancel both is so frustrating. It was the only thing I wanted, thought I had finally got one for myself and one for my friend. Can they just cancel them with no explanation? In their terms and conditions it states that once it's confirmed it forms a legally binding agreement between us,so I'm shocked it just got cancelled. Anyone else had this? I'm really annoyed :(

Mum and I just back home from Bath, went down before 8 and by opening time about 50 people at each of the two doors, had great fun, mum and I stock up on presents for all the family for the year, and spent about £300 each, but got loads, of what we wanted......had great fun chatting and catching up with people we only ever see at the sale and dad stands with the bags, and other ladies use him as well as a bag guard...lol...we went to the Salvation Army cafe after for breakfast, and mum and both used our points vouchers to full advantage and gained over £30 each in points......hope everyone else had a good time...xx

I too went to the Chelmsford Boots, like uk_american. I'd nipped in after work late yesterday and there were several small aisles with the shelves full of gift sets. I couldn't get there til after the school run at 9.10am today. I couldn't believe how much some people had stuffed into those double trolleys and big boots bags! The shelves were largely bare. No small Sanctuary sets, no S&G, no Joules. Loads of men's Lynx and those gingerbread men shaped tins, and the Sanctuary flat box and big tin sets were really all that was left. I'd hoped to get some sets to put away for presents and for contributions to the school fete's and bazaars.....was really disappointed. I spoke to a young lad at the till and he told me that one lady had spent well over £300 just on 70%off stuff. She had so many bags that she had to leave most of it in the shop and return 4 times to carry it all to the car park.
I did notice a stall at our local carboot last year was filled just with Boots gift sets.
I'd be surprised if the shelves aren't clear by midday.
I did go to the one on the retail park afterwards at Chelmer Village as really wanted a Joules set for my Mum, but similar situation there. Shelves looked like a plague of locusts had been in....I walked out with nothing.
Sounds like some areas had much better stock than Chelmsford! Well done to everyone that had a successful trip!

Trafford Centre was a complete nightmare. I go every year and usually get some great bargains. This year I walked away with nothing. They'd set it all up in one crowded corner of the store and it all got grid locked! I just couldn't be bothered with it. Went to my local store and got a few good gift sets for my pressie box but whoever was responsible for organising the Trafford Centre one needs sacking!

Arnison Centre, Durham had loads of S & G whole she-bang gift sets £18 when I was in just after 9am. Durham Market Place had loads of Joules bags (the star gift ones) when I was in at about 11am. Didn't see any No7 gift sets, any other S&G stuff. Arnison Centre also had Laura Ashley gift box sets and the Sanctuary round boxes.

UPDATE: I bought 2 S&G gift sets to post to friends for birthday presents. However, on enquiring at the post office it will cost £12.98 to post each one as they are over 2kg in weight. Not such a bargain after all so I think I'll take them back for a refund. Hermes don't carry liquids so that option isn't available either. I'm better off sending them a gift card and they can buy items at 342 and it'll work out as cheap and they can pick which ones they want.

they were still bringing out the Joules star gift, large Sanctuary sets, and still had loads of the men's Jack Wills stockings and backpacks at the Vic Centre Nottingham when I left town at 10.30, and in Riverside (where I'd been for opening at 9am) there was a whole double aisle of S&G star gifts plus another trolley full being brought out by staff at 11am - they were joking with one of the managers that he could gift all of his staff with them and there would still be an aisle full left :rotfl:.

I'm so organised this year, that I even returned the 2 items I bought first thing this morning, that I wasn't completely sure I was keeping, before I came back home :).

If only there was a way of mentally informing those that have set their alarms for 4ish/5ish not to bother!

that would have been good :) - I got up at 4, everything in my basket/favourites was sold out, and went straight back to bed for a couple of hours!

boots online are really bad at keeping their order system up to date, they regularly accept orders and then cancel when they find they haven't actually got the stock.
With Boots sale items, its best to order it and hope for the best, but don't expect your order to be guaranteed to be filled.
  • I got online just before 2am and checked out by 3pm. Most was out of stock. I did get some few bits though and just received the despatch email when I was expecting a cancellation email.
