I've been Money Tipped! Uniform Washer
edited 5 January 2016 at 8:17PM in It's gone, but was it any good?
Hey everyone! It's nearly that time of year again :)
Anyone know when we need to start sharpening our elbows up?
Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and new year! X

Official MoneySavingExpert insert Tue 5 Jan: Boots hasn’t yet confirmed it will be boosting its current ‘up to 50% off’ sale, but there are strong rumours it will increase this to up to 70% off in the middle of next week. We’ve seen it do this in the past, so we’re expecting more of the same this year. Check out our Boots Deals here too for the latest info :)

    Hi Beckyboo :hello:

Other posters have suggested 13th Jan as a distinct possibility (I bow to their superior knowledge - we've been chatting on the expired Boots thread).

It's the most wonderful time of the year
  • Last year it was 14th January and in 2014 it was 15th January (I wrote the dates in my diary so I knew when to expect the following year's sale). So looks like it could well be 13th this year.
  • Hi everyone, Was only talking to my daughter about the Boots Sale this morning and we both started getting excited about it.......so thought I would check the blog out and see we are not alone in our enthusiasm. It has been so useful over the past few years. :-))
  • Oh it is exciting isn't it :) I actually managed last year to buy the entire years worth of birthday gifts (and most Christmas gifts) for £150. Saved myself so much money (and got beautiful gifts for everyone) I don't think I'd have managed half my savings without it! Really good to pop in and grab bits to put away.
Had some awful experiences last year! Did anyone else? X

Hello honey :) 13th/14th sounds about right to be honest!
    I honestly can't wait! Sad isn't it :) x

This is my little spreadsheet from last year:

    14 Jan 2009 (Thu - 3rd Wednesday after Christmas)
    20 Jan 2010 (Fri - 3rd Wednesday after Christmas)
    19 Jan 2011 (Sat - 3rd Wednesday after Christmas)
    18 Jan 2012 (Sun - 3rd Wednesday after Christmas)
    16 Jan 2013 (Tue - 3rd Wednesday after Christmas) 3am live online
    15 Jan 2014 (Wed - 3rd Wednesday after Christmas) 5am live online
    14 Jan 2015 (thurs - 3th Wednesday after Christmas) 3.55am live online

As BalletShoes and Spendless pointed out on the other thread 2010 was a week late due to the bad weather which puts it on 13th this year.

I'm once again hoping to get a couple of the bigger sets to put away for Christmas and some smaller stuff for birthdays thru the year. I managed to get most of it online last year but I don't think that'll happen this year.
  • What awful experiences did you have Beckyboo22? Would of thought the Boots sale was a rather tame and staid affair, well it is in the west midlands anyway lol
Overactively underachieving for almost half a century
  • Thanks desperado99! (Could you send some of your organisation skills to me? I seem to be lacking enormously!)
Last year was a nightmare, I went to two shops, first one was bexleyheath, two women with trolleys (yes TROLLEYS!) came in just behind me at opening time and wiped entire shelves into their trolleys. The lot. I asked if I could have one of the jack wills bag sets as I wanted one for a friends birthday, and the woman kissed her teeth at me, waved her hand in my face and told me I "should have been faster". I asked one of the assistants if they were going to be allowed to buy the entire thing, they shrugged apologetically and said there wasn't much they could do!
Very similar story in Crayford, nasty, aggressive women. Pushing and shoving people out of the way, swearing and scooping entire shelves into baskets and trolleys. These women seem to work in packs!! This year I'll be taking my sharpest elbows and my resting b!tch face :)

Thanks, I will get the early bus to work next Wednesday. Boots is a 5 minute walk away and opens at 8am so I'll be there from opening for almost an hour :)

I plan on getting random bath/body sets and making up hampers for birthdays with it.
