Today bought a couple of sets of toiletries I will use at 50percent off - my overriding memory of last years 70percent off first morning in one of the newcastle stores was of an obese lady how spread her arms over the champneys shelf as shrieked at everyone "they are mine" like a spoilt brat, whilst the cachexic husband tried to get a trolley from M&S through a sea of hundreds of people! Worth paying the extra 20 percent to avoid greedy people like that - wow took a year to get that off my chest !0

I put the stuff I needed ( wanted!) into my basket the day before the 50 % off as I kind of know the stuff which won't reach the 75% sale. It was all dispatched, none out of stock and my hermes lost it. Full refund given but just wanted my goodies which were now out of stock. The worst of it was I got a lift to the shops on Boxing day and was in Boots and all the items I ordered were on the shelves and I am kicking myself that I didn't buy them and just return or cancel the order. So if anyone finds the sugar bowl and cream jug the orange and blue one will gladly pay for it and postage.0

I done a recky last night in Norwich city stores and there's not much left there either. Any other Norwich ladies or gents on here?
HiyaI'm a Norwich lady, I normally hit the castle mall store but it looked pretty empty last week when I went in compared to previous years so I don't know if I'm going to bother going this year, might do it online instead
which store do you normally go to?

If anyone is interested they have further reduced some of the fragrance gift sets to half price. I have resisted temptation, however they are some bargains to be had!!
Was talking to a member of staff on our fragrance bit today and they said the reduction had been by accident at head office. No tickets or anything, they had to make tickets instore manually, whatever that means as they were all printed, and they didn't know if the prices were going back up over night. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

Never a truer (sp) word has been written, I havent had the luck of the person in 26.:):):):)
I have, although I hadn't been to the dentist! It happened before I was aware of this thread and, indeed the fact that Boots even reduced stuff so low! (I know, I know, how could I have been so blind!)
DH and I had gone on the old codgers bargain winter train ride to Lancaster for the day. Wandering past Boots I noticed the massive sign on the window so ventured in. The shelves were groaning under the weight of stuff and no-one else was even looking! Six piled high baskets (and numerous big carrier bags) later, I had got every birthday and Christmas present for that year! There's always a drawback though isn't there! We had to carry all these heavy and bulky bags around all day until it was time for the train back home!!! Those were the days!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Talking of bags, what is everyone doing about the bag charge?
Are you buying them at the sale, or do you have good bag tips?0 -

Ikea bags are often mentioned as being handy (except I live so far away from Ikea, I've never actually been). Ours hand out big blue bags instead of baskets (if you get there early enough) and then generally run out of large carrier bags by 9.30am anyway.
I'm planning on taking my ALDI carrier bags just in case I'm late and can only get a basket (the sturdy ones 39p each?) as they're a little bigger than the Morrisons ones. Our store is quite happy for you to put stuff in your own bags and then go thru the checkouts and repack. I'm going to try and avoid paying for carriers if I can help it.0 -
I'm going to get booed I'm sure for this.... I can't see why the Boots sale is anything special, even at 70% off. I know some people get all their birthday presents etc from it, but the brands on sale are rarely anything special, and I'm sure some recipients will be thinking - 'Oh am I going to get 70% reduced Champneys again from X'. With not too much effort, you can find better brands at sale prices throughout the year. You can also tailor the gift to the individual, rather than getting them something because it's been heavily reduced. For example, I've bought Urban Decay, bareMinerals and Mac kits in sales that to me are much better than No 7 stuff. I've found Elemis sets at excellent prices from sites such as feelunique. Debenhams is often good for decent brands, too. I don't want to be too much of a killjoy, but I really do think that a little searching might get better presents, still at very good prices.0

Boooo. Lol :rotfl:
To be honest I think a lot of people use the sets for teachers/neighbours/secret santas and as little extras for relatives. That's what I do, and I'll had something more personal for a relative.0
