Love this country sometimes.
Yes. This country is great.0 -
Oh really? Generally the DVLA would disagree...
https://www.gov.uk/become-lorry-bus-driver/getting-qualified
Following through the "some exceptions" link on that page, stating that I want to drive a bus (Cat D), have a full car licence and am under 24, I get;Driving a bus at 18
In some cases you can drive a bus when you’re 18.
If you’re preparing for a PCV driving test or Driver CPC
You can drive a bus when you’re preparing to take your Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) driving test or to get your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
If you’ve passed your PCV driving test but haven’t got a Driver CPC
You can drive a bus when you’ve passed your PCV driving test as long as you:- don’t carry passengers
- drive on a regular route that’s within 31 miles of where you work
- don’t drive the bus abroad
You can drive a bus as long as you drive on a regular route that’s within 31 miles of where you work.
Driving a bus at 20
You can drive a bus in the UK when you’re 20 if you’ve passed your PCV driving test and got your Driver CPC. You can’t drive a bus abroad.
Driving a bus at 21
You can drive a bus in the UK or abroad when you’re 21 if you’ve passed your PCV driving test and got your Driver CPC.
You can also drive a bus in the UK when you’re 21 if you passed your driving test before 19 January 2013 and the bus is either:- being used by the fire service or by the police to maintain public order
- being road tested after it’s been repaired or serviced
I don't know how long it takes to get a full car driving licence, pass the PCV test and get the driver CPC but if someone has a natural aptitude to driving the first could be very soon after their 17th birthday so I'm sure that with diligent planning it ought to be fairly easy (timewise at least) to get the rest done before the 19th birthday, and even more so before 21.0 -

Many don't, they just shuck out another child when the one they have reaches school age when they are expected to "go back to work" .
Its great being a woman, threatened with benefit sanctions if they don't find a job so pop out another kid and hay presto ,back on the benefits gravytrain...
Just to add I was born and bought up on a council estate and saw it every day and still see it so I judge from experience......
It's great being a guy. Having unprotected sex with random women at the bus stop and have no responsibility for the kids you created.0 -
tbf, it is unlikely... but nothing there that says impossible.
https://www.gov.uk/vehicles-can-drive/y/bus-category-d/yes/under-24
However, if that bit is made up, not entirely sure why the rest of the post is being interpreted as true. If it's all made up maybe this is a 46yo rocket scientist having a child.
An 18 year old can drive a bus with the relevant qualifications so as there us nothing at all to suggest the OP is lying then I think we can safely assume he is being truthful.0 -

My wife was 30 and I was 29 when we had our 1st child so Big difference ..........
I was 22 when my lovely son arrived, not a big difference at all, unless you stop paying taxes when you become a parent, in which case I am due a very large refund.0 -
The one thing that can be said here is OP is trying to sort the situation out and plan and I feel sorry for him for having a girlfriend that hasn't done an equivalent amount of planning. I think he earns distinct brownie points for trying to sort out a situation he personally hasn't had any say in and saying he will support this non-planner girlfriend whatever she decides.
Some young guys deserve a lot better "press" than they get and I've sat there on a bus before now overhearing a conversation between two young guys (both of whom were too young to be parents) and hearing one of them telling the other one he was keeping his money for the child his girlfriend had decided to have/or not "planned" against having anyway. He was being a lot kinder to her than I would have been - as my first reaction would have been to be livid with her that she had taken my share of the decision-making, as well as her own share of said decision-making and imposed this situation on me.
So - yep - poor OP and I do feel sorry for him that she has done this.0 -
Not sure I'd want the OP driving any bus my kids are on looking at one of his previous posts on another thread:
"I'm quite an aggressive driver, or shall I say confident, I DO TAILGATE, but only when you're travelling, for no REASON at 25/26/27 mph in a 30mph zone. If you do 30mph, I WILL NOT tailgate you, I will drop back and just cruise. This is why people get annoyed".
He's gone from driving a moped to a bus in less than 3 yrs........0
