Holiday alone

Thanks, set dining wouldn't appeal to me, but other than that, I would consider a cruise,
I think its between it, and an all inclusive holiday, I imagine for just one week0 -
First time I went to Las Vegas I was on my own - can't see any issue there in particular.I dont fancy back packing or hostels
I dont fancy getting all dressed up to eat ( does this mean cruises are out?)
I would like to see the Northern Lights, Niagara falls, Sicily, Mexico, Las Vegas (not sure about going alone here ?) obviously not all on the one trip, but just places that spring to mind,
I would like sun, lazing around the pool, reading, listening to music, relaxing, to be allowed to enjoy my own company, to be left alone and not feel like I have to join a group,
I'm sure I have lots more likes and dislikes, but these spring to mind
What is it you're worried about, it is safety? Most people worry about loneliness, sounds like that's not your concern. Others worry about "what will other people think" (which is just daft - who cares?)
If it's safety, just do lots of reading up on the place you want to go and what is and isn't safe, look at the tripadvisor forum for the place you're considering and post there, there will be lots of locals and "destination experts" to reassure you and give you safety advice.0 -
I am a single man and will be doing an all inclusive for the first time this year and it scares me silly, I am so used to just doing my own thing, I am not sure how I will get on.
I know it's 'different for girls' but really holidaying on your own should be fun, it always has been for me and I have done a few miles on my own
One place I could recommend for a sit and do nothing holiday is the island of Maui in Hawaii, there are organised trips that you can go on but you can spend a week just sitting on the beach or by the pool, it is very much a resort island.0 -
No they won't - I've met loads of older backpackers. And even if they do, who cares? It would be pretty pathetic to not do something you want to do because you're worried about what strangers might think. Same applies to thinking you're too young for a cruise.good for you
i done the back pack thing in Europe..its ok when your in your 20s (no offense)
but everone will look at you if your older and its rubbish anyway.0 -
Hope that what went on in the cabin stayed in the cabin.;)CruisingSaver wrote: »
We did our first cruise when we were early 30's and on our honeymoon and have racked up well in excess of 250 nights at sea with various cruise lines since then

What's a 'destination expert' on TA? Some are good, some not so good, some are poor. A lot of genuinely knowledgeable folk would never ever put themselves on a precarious pedestal.0 -
I don't want to back pack or go to hostels, and I'm not fussed on meeting others doing the same thing. Its not that I am a wimp, I just don't fancy it.
Backpacking isn't what it used to be. You can ow do it in comfort - stop in hostels with private room or even proper hotels, eat in restaurants rather than living on toast and pot noodles, fly rather than take overnight buses and never be far from your gadgets. It's now more of a state of mind of travelling independently without a pre-planned itinerary instead of having to rough it.
Backpacking when grown up and with money is known as "flashpacking".

They aren't put there themselves are they? I thought they were nominated/selected by others? But anyway does it matter - the point is that the TA forums can provide useful safety information regardless of who provides it. Usually if someone posts bulls**t there will be someone else along to correct it.PompeyPete wrote: »What's a 'destination expert' on TA? Some are good, some not so good, some are poor.
