I dont fancy back packing or hostels

I dont fancy getting all dressed up to eat ( does this mean cruises are out?)

I would like to see the Northern Lights, Niagara falls, Sicily, Mexico, Las Vegas (not sure about going alone here ?) obviously not all on the one trip, but just places that spring to mind,

I would like sun, lazing around the pool, reading, listening to music, relaxing, to be allowed to enjoy my own company, to be left alone and not feel like I have to join a group,

I'm sure I have lots more likes and dislikes, but these spring to mind

You can do all of those things backpacking and hostelling. The advantage being that you'll meet others doing the same thing. As they say, you have nothing to fear, but fear itself.
Do you think that unless you have a rolling suitcase, you'll be unable to sun, laze around the pool, read, listen to music, relax, be allowed to enjoy your own company, be left alone and not feel like you have to join a group,
You don't even have to be a backpacker. You just have to be slightly less of a wimp. :)
You can go on a prepackaged solo holiday or you can go on a holiday were there are many independent travellers. That way you can choose to be social or choose to stay quiet. Open up your horizons a little.

As a single female I'm in a similar situation - I'm starting to think about solo holidays.

I have a quick question for those who have done it, what do you do about suncream on your back?

There would be some times I would want to swim, or relax in the sun and I burn easily.

    I have one of these:

I have been holidaying by myself, mostly making independent arrangements (no package hols) for many years. I was quite adventurous with my sight-seeing to start with, some twenty odd years ago, getting deliberately lost (you see the real place then) but I discovered that wandering the streets of Marseilles at night is not such a good idea (I stayed in my hotel room subsequently from 4pm onwards for rest of stay!). My worst holiday was a cruise that cost a fortune and was a retirement present to myself. I felt trapped, bored and 'old' and despite requesting to be seated at large table with other singles ended up sitting at individual table with a man in his 70s and his 95 year old father - for every evening meal for a fortnight. So glad to get home! I will never go on a cruise again, much preferring to go it alone.

City breaks are probably a good idea for a first solo holiday as there is always something to see, and somewhere like Barcelona also would also fit the bill regarding sun bathing .

I don't want to back pack or go to hostels, and I'm not fussed on meeting others doing the same thing. Its not that I am a wimp, I just don't fancy it.

Late to this thread but I travel alone several times a year [mid 20s male]. So from what I've skim read, you want the sunshine and relaxation And don't want backpacking or hostels which is understandable.

How about somewhere like Greece, Cyprus or some Spanish islands? It depends on your budget really. Mexico, Vegas, Canada etc are very expensive compared to the cheaper and simpler options!

    Thank you,

I think I will also go all inclusive, having been before as a family and enjoyed it.

A friend of mine loves cruising and when she found herself single made the scary ( as she said ) decision to go on her own , and has enjoyed it . She chooses to do the set dining I.e same table and people every night , but most cruise lines offer freedom dining if you want
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later
