I am trying to tell myself that I HAVE been better this year because of the challenge, but compared with everyone else I am a disaster.

Have you heard of the saying "Comparison is the thief of joy"? Don't compare yourself vintagegirl - the important thing is you are spending less than you would have otherwise...

I hadn't heard that expression before somerandom, but it's a good one for me to remember. I guess the important thing is that I have bought less and that I actually will know what I've spent this year, whereas in the past I would have had no clue.

Vintagegal Dont beat yourself up about it. You are still thinking about what you are buying and you are spending less than last year so its the right direction:)

Dont think I am perfect as I am the person who spent $1200 on one pair of boots and have worn them twice :o So your £50 sandals seem like a bargain to me ;)
But enjoy your new things but draw a line now move on and enjoy your hoilday and stop spending if you can :)

More has gone on Eb*y I am up to around £100 ;) I have some more things to list. Can you do the same vintagegal sell a few more bits as it makes you feel so much better about what you have spent and you can put it towards your hoilday :D

Nobody should beat themselves up vintagegal that's the beauty of this site, support and confession! A bit like a religion really!:rotfl:

Mavvymoo I have some items to sell but don't really know how to word items when describing. Do I take pics of the labels as well etc? They are designer.:(

It's my last day in Ibiza....home tonight!
I bought the leather purse I spotted in the Hippy market last week. It's beautiful hand made and a typical Spanish design.
The girl that was selling, had made everything and I had a lovely chat to her. She told me about the amount of work she had put onto it and it showed in her work. It cost me €25 and I didn't bother haggling with her because it was obvious it was worth it.:D

I think I love you lot! You are all so wise, and so supportive.

Yes I am planning to do a car boot sale hopefully next weekend, my daughter really wants to do one as she has never been and saw one on TV. I have said we can split the proceeds three ways, plus I am thinking this means my son will sort out his room.... :j
Will also list a couple more things on eBay this weekend, things that I think are too good for the boot sale.

I think I am really appreciating the things I have bought, they feel more special because I havent bought that much this year (in quantity). The shop I bought the dress from is a real weakness for me and I have never before now bought only one at a time. Normally I have a massive adrenaline rush when the new stock lands and buy at least 4! So I suppose its better that I picked out the one I truly loved, and left the so-so ones.

Leather purse sounds great funbrum, I love to buy things from the makers direct. You will treasure that and remember your trip

    I definitely will vintagegal. :D
If I find that something is a weakness,I avoid going anywhere near it. Maybe you can try that. It's habit that makes you go there so try to avoid it. It works for me so give it a try! :A
I love your name, by the way! :D

You are right funbrum, I should try and stay away, unsubscribe from emails and unfollow on Instagram really. Will try and have a cull tomorrow of the brands that try to tempt me...
Going to try to have a low spend weekend and start sorting boot sale stock! and clear the understairs cupboard. I really know how to party :rotfl:
Thanks for saying you like my name! Yours is pretty cool too

Funbrum Yep take as many pictures as you can all 12 is good. I take photos of labels and every angle of item and close ups of any details I feel are worth while.
A good photo is worth a thousand words in my book.

Make sure in the title you have make colour size and style. Go on to advanced listings and see if any like yours have sold if they have then use sell similar. and use their title if its good. But I will normally change one or two things if I can word it better.Be completely honest and if there is any flaws say so.
Also measure the item and say laid flat waist 15"/38cms approx ;) do that for bust. waist.hips. length and top of arms as designer can sometimes be small at that point :D
When you are describing an item just think that you are on the phone telling a friend about something you have at home. What would you say ? You do have the photos so that gives you a head start.

And dont start it with some low price on it as if thats all you think its worth thats what people will pay for it. BIN or best offer works for me.I never auction anything now. Always add about £10 on the buy it now price as you will get offers so if you want £50 price it at £55/60

Good luck and watch the sales roll in ;)

Don't beat yourself up Vintagegal. I am finding that I must have spent far more than I thought last year and my budget of £150 this year was a tad unrealistic! In the last couple of weeks I have spent £45 on a pair of sandals and £48 on a pair of crops and a pair of summer trousers. I need to update sig. The good news is that I thought about these purchases and love them all. I have also cleared out some very old crops and Tees to make room.
