  • Been MIA and have to confess to a spend. I needed a new suit for work as my old one had developed shiney elbows and bum.
    Spent £80.47 in M&S outlet.
Total for year now stands at £175.88/£300. Over budget by quite a long way now but will see if I can reign it in over the next few months.

Sounds like that was a necessary purchase MM - sometimes there's no option other than to replace an item. :)

This thread has moved on quite a way since I last looked. Still haven't bought anything in April. In answer to your question Vintagegirl, he just seems to think he has paid enough over the years & can stop now. No rhyme or reason to it really. I think he is planning on seeing ds once a year if ds flies over.

    Morning all :D
vintagegal dont beat yourself up about the jacket just send it back hopefully the weather will be too hot to wear it anyway ;)
We all go off the rails I did last year and went over my pretty large budget by about £500 so it does take a year or too to get into the challenge :o
I am still doing ok(ish) but can feel myself on the slippery slope (downwards of course) :rotfl:
Made a bit of an error last week
Picked up a lovely Jasper Conran Dress and matching jacket.Which (was) notice the was ! Stunning.
I thought it said handwash which I did but it said dry clean :o and I have wrecked it. All the lining has sagged and all the hems have come down :( It is now in the very back of the wardrobe but I know it has to be chucked away :(
So £8.95 to be added to my total with nothing to show for it except a gutted feeling :rotfl:

So we all make mistakes and to be honest I wouldnt have brought it if I knew it was dry clean only as it would just cost too much for the wear I would have got out of it

Oh well lesson learned and I will check labels with my glasses on :rotfl:

Mav could it be rescued by a seamstress? Would it be worth the cost?

Another £12 spent. Not spending following my 'spree' didn't last long. Hoping for a no spend May but I'm not optimistic as there are usually a lot of lovely Summer clothes around then.

Would it possibly be worth putting it on the gentlest cold cycle - no spin and then grabbing it from the machine as soon as it's done to drip dry? Then perhaps a gentle press (you can always turn the heat up if need be but start with it cool). It might be then worth having the hem re-stitched up? Either that or take it to the dry cleaners and see if there's anything that can be done to save it, some do very good alterations so perhaps a little tlc might salvage it?

£8 spent today. Ordered a top online (there were only 2 left) so thought it better to order and possibly send back rather than wait a while and find it's sold out.
